Just saw on the AP Wire that Toure died of cancer, in his late 60's

Won a grammy 11 years back for Talking Timbuktu and this year for In The Heart Of The Moon.

I've heard he's nearly worshipped in West Africa, particularly Mali.

talking timbuktu is such an awesome album.

Yes with another Malian musician, who's name I cannot recall right now. I also read (I think it was the BBC) that he has another album's worth of material.
