Charlie was given the dvd collection of all the Superman movies for xmas from my dad.

He's never seen them before and he's riveted. As am I. I forgot how much I loved this movie and the second one. There are even some scenes in it that were never in the theatrical release, like a young Lois Lane being on that train that the high school Clark sped by. Cool!

But now that Christopher Reeve is on the screen I'm suddenly super sad.

Watching this I hope Hollywood never gets that new Superman flick off the ground. I don't think anything or anyone can touch this version.

I think it's the conversation that takes place inside the train that was never in the theatres. Because I don't remember it and it says on the scene descriptions and this scene starred"contains material not originally seen in theatrical release".

Yeah I do have a vague remembrance of a little girl on the train but not the conversation the parents have with her.

Who knows, maybe this was changed years ago and I didn't know it so therefore you guys have all seen that part and I hadn't til now.

ahhh...that too i dont really recall...

i can vividle remember clark smiling at the girl on the train, as he runs by...
but a convo, nope.....

thats probably it....

i was tempted to buy the set as well....

but part 3 with Richard Pryor, while entertaining, simply isnt a must own..... and Part 4 was very blah...

Superman 2 was by far, my favorite.

I had a version of both Superman and Superman 2 taped off of HBO when I was a kid. According to my brother, who's seen the DVD, there's nothing on the DVD we didn't have on those versions. So while those scenes may not have been in theaters, they were new to the DVD.

They were done really well.

Perfect casting-Reeve, Ned Beatty, Gene Hackman, Terence Stamp etc.

The best part of Superman II is when he roughs up the pedestrian in the ending diner scene. I mean, yeah, that guy did cheap shot Superman when he gave up his powers. But, you would think that Superman would be able to just look the other way.

Plus he completely destroyed the bar, smashed people's food, and broke the jukebox. Then he threw down some money to take care of it. I wonder how much he thought the most awkward diner experience ever was worth ?

If I'm not mistaken there are several versions of 'Superman'. There's the theatrical release, and then a super-extended TV version. It's my understanding that the DVD has pretty much all the deleted scenes added, except for the scene of Miss Tessmocker hanging upside down once Lex Luther learns she released Superman to save her mother. Apparantly Richard Donner started shooting elements of Superman II simultaneously with the first movie, but ended up leaving as the director, so there may even be an even larger S2 dvd in the future.

Hardly a blasphemy, I think. A true heresy would be someone who hated the first two.

Don't get me wrong...
I enjoyed three alot....

but it doesnt hold a candle to the first two.....

but in terms of Superman 4, 3 might have been "Gone With the Wind'

Superman 2 is a great movie and if Ursa wasn't a heartless, sadistic, evil superalien, I could go for a girl like that.
