I was raised Catholic and it is the only church I actually attend on holidays. I tend to read stuff on Buddhism, Deism and Gnosticism.

Raised Lutheran (Missouri Synod)... now a practicing Catholic to match my wife. Also agreed to raise all our kids Catholic.

But like a few of you have already said, denominations are not that important (to me, at least).

independant, vaguely-Celtic "Chrystic" (with unfortunate Baptist undertones I've tried to shake)

There's a lot of Van Morrison, woods-walking, spiked eggnog and petting of small critters involved.

I was born, baptised, confirmed and raised Catholic.
I married the daughter of a Southern Baptist minister.
Neither of us wanted to convert to the other, so we both became Lutheran.

Sounds like a compromise, but we actually ended up liking it better than what we were before. The only other Lutheran I know of on Obner is bort. The only "celebrity" Lutheran I'm aware of is *felch* Felicity Huffman.

- Found out I'm "technically" Jewish and sometimes wish I had been raised as such "for the food and history".

- Not really into following any particular religion, but I read Buddhist texts and practice Buddhist meditation now & then.

- Essentially I think I'm a Pantheist.

My parents tell people that I am an "ecologist" (wrong) or a "biologist" (vague). I am pretty sure that they don't tell their church friends that I am an "evolutionary geneticist" (accurate).

The town I grew up in is dominated by Catholics and Lutherans, they each have a high school now. My neighbor used to house Vicars for the Wisconsin Lutheran Synod for a church down the street from my house. They always seemed pretty cool and fairly moderate. I even went to Vacation Bible School a few times after receiving an invite from the Vicars.
The Missouri Lutherans who have the larger school and basically control the Lutheran High School always seemed to have alot of disdain for the Catholics.
As for the Southern Baptist, there is a Southern Baptist church across the street from my house. A group of baptist from Tennessee supposedly received a message from god that told them to build a church in my town.

I thought it was backwoods Yankee Calvinist, but it can sound a lot the same.

I'm actually kind of surprised by the high number of believers we have here. I suspected there might be a few more 'religion?? omfg! no way!' types here.

Should I even ask about an explanation on this Synod Lutheran thing?

I was only aware of the Lutheran church.
