I'm surprised the Flyers have done anything yet.

The Thrashers are in 9th. I don't even know what we should do. What I do know is that if we dont make the playoffs Bob Hartley and Don Waddell will be looking for jobs.

Greased. Rail.

Any thoughts on the Theodore/Aebischer trade? The most surprising of the few so far to me. As a Habs fan, I like the trade. Canadiens get a good 1-2 punch in goal, deal a problem off the ice, who has had a TERRIBLE season, is injured and has a too-huge contract. A steal for the Habs.

i still cant believe that trade. colorado usually knows exactly what theyre doing, but i just dont get this one. montreal got an absolute steal here. aebischer is going to be a good goalie for a long time, much longer and probably at a much higher level than theodore.

It's possible Theodore might return to form now that he's out of that fishbowl in Montreal - but, yeh, it's a strange gamble for Colorado at this point in the season.

I also think the Oilers screwed up royally by giving up a 1st round pick for Roloson. Any goalie looks pretty good backing up that stultifyingly defensive Minnesota team, but it's as yet unproven how Roloson will stand up to Edmonton's more chaotic brand of play. I still can't figure how the Oilers so thoroughly destroyed Conklin's confidence.

And I think L.A. made a great trade to get Mark Parrish. He's gonna fit in well with that team.

Just in:

Quote:
The Vancouver Canucks acquired goaltender Mika Noronen from the Buffalo Sabres for a second-round pick in the 2006 draft on Thursday.

I don't mind this one at all.

Edit: also just in:

Quote:
the Devils then sent defenseman Sean Brown to the Vancouver Canucks for a draft pick.

Meh.

And Aebischer had just started putting it together - he's been playing really well since January. Definite shocker.

It's funny that despite being traded, Theodore went to the one team where he'd still be in Patrick Roy's shadow.

But probably not in Montreal for a long time. I thnk the Canadiens have their eye on Roberto Luongo, assuming that he becomes unrestricted after '07 season, Aebischer/Huet will hold down the fort until then.

That is a wacky joke. I'm mad as hell.

Has Detroit made any changes?

They picked up Gauthier from Phoenix for Josh Gratton and 2 2nd rd picks..

Not a bad pickup imho...Especially after Hatcher got hurt last night.

I think Pierre Lacroix (Colorado) is the biggest overtrader since Espo. He hates being leftout of a trade dealine deal. I've felt in the past he puts way too much stock in star players & not enough in overall team depth. But I think this deal might payoff for them. A Francophone goalie in MTL is not an easy load to carry. Jose is gonna go from talking 12 reporters after a game to Rick Sadowski, an AP person & an out of town person or 2.

I like the Kings deal if Sopel can play better than he did with the Isles this year. How was he in the past in Vancouver Radcliff? Do you feel he's a top 4? Parrish is a solid pick up. But like I told a buddy yesterday considering we made a deal with Milbury I think we got ripped off if you consider his track record. But the Kings could affors to move both those kids, especially Grebeshkov.

'Nucks just got Carney for a draft pick. Good pick up for them

Recchi to the Canes--- wow I thought he was headed to Philly for sure. Canes going all out

When Sopel played here he showed some good offensive talent - but not enough of it to counterbalance his huge defensive gaffs. He used to drive me nuts by making at least a couple of outlandishly retarded plays in every game.

That Milbury comment is damn funny! Yeh, considering his track record L.A. should've managed to squeeze both Yashin and Satan in the deal.

And that Carney trade is aces.

That sounds like what an Islanders fan friend of mine said. Hmmmmm

I could always look at this deal as the Kings got half of what Florida gave up to get Loungo & Jokinen.

Marty Reasoner. Pretty much a perennial under-achiever who will occasionally show flashes of potential that make you think he's going to be a star, but then immediately settles back to his usual level of mediocrity. I think Boston got a draft pick as well. Not a great trade at all.

I think it's more about equipment changes for Theodore than about media over-coverage. He has looked so small in the net this year, goes down at every opportunity and gives up huge rebounds. I am very sceptical that he can work his way back into his winning form. Everyone is sayig that this is Patrick Roy to Colorado re-visited, but Roy had already won 2 cups with the Habs; Theodore has won nothing except for stealing a playoff series in '02.

But it's all about the salary dump....
