As a Bruins fan I've been pretty dissapointed in Samsonov. He never lived up to that 22 goals as an 18 year old. Even when paired with a world class playmaker in Thornton. And after missing over a 100 games in the last 3 seasons you can now tag him injury prone. Figure in he's an unrestricted free agent this Summer so getting Yan Stanstny, Marty Reasoner & a 2nd rounder I don't think is a great package but I'll take it. There's still a ton of potential there for Samsonov, I just don't think it was gonna come out in Boston.

The fact that the Bruins roster now has Zhamnov, Czerkawski & Reasoner does trouble me. I'm waiting for Vladimir Ruzicka & Dmitri Kvartalnov to come back.

I just noticed this morning that Yan Stasny was included in the deal. He's a good prospect, and Reasoner is functional, so if the Bruins weren't going to be able to keep Samsonov after free agency then it wasn't a bad deal to make. The team seems to have accepted the fact that this year is a write-off.

Czerkawski, in the right circumstances, is a great player. With any luck he'll make Pat Quinn look like the hulking doofus I think he is.
