Dear Obner,

Stereolab are playing here tonight but I haven't bought tickets and probably won't end up going.

Morrissey is releasing a new record, but I don't really care.

The Lab is easily one of my favorite bands EVER. And Moz is without a doubt one of my most favorite singers/songwriters.

It's just that I've seen Stereolab play at least 5 times (plus Monade last Fall), and, apart from a couple of songs, Moz's last album didn't really do it for me, (although I'm happy he's made such a successful comeback).

Do you guys ever get jaded about your favorite artists? I sometimes feel like I always see the same artists live, over and over again. It just seems like it's always the same people touring. Is it really necessary to see the same group more than 5 times within 3 years?

Should I feel guilty if I don't 'reprazent' for the Lab tonight or buy the new Moz?

Yours truly,

Guilty Six

I'm not going to chastise you for not attending Stereolab tonight, but you have no idea how damn lucky you are that you've seen them FIVE times, enough that you can even consider being jaded.

You're right.

I said hi to Laeticia once.

I forgot how to speak french and she complimented me on my shirt.

She's my hero.

Stereolab is also one of my favorite bands. I'm not going to see them, though, even though I wanted to. Most of the material they're playing is from Fab Four Suture, which certainly isn't one of their stronger albums. The reviews I've read haven't been overwhelmingly positive, either. The band supposedly doesn't seem too happy to be playing.

Yeah. I saw them 2 years ago and totally got the vibe that they weren't happy to be there. Mary Hasen died. Tim & Laeticia split up. Things can't be too much fun right now for them.

Monade was fun to see. They were sloppy but you could tell Laeticia was happy to be there.

i'm happy that they're still a band and happy that they're still touring, but if you've got to sit one out, it's understandable, especially if one goes to a lot of shows. i love stereolab, and i'm having the same debate for their shows this weekend.
