Yeah, I also didn't have high hopes for it being a Claah episode, but there was probably more revealed in this episode than any single episode before. I actually figured out the Dharmites were "posing" as the others before they found the beard and theatrical glue. As soon as the locker was opened and the dingy clothes became visible, it all made perfect sense.

It's also obvious now that the "hot air balloonist" being held prisoner is definitely a Dharmite, based on his whole "Why are you letting the doctor call the shots?" psyche-out of Locke. My guess is that not only is there no infection permeating the island, but the Dharma "vaccine" is actually some sort of mind-control serum. The biggest mystery at this point is figuring out to whom Zeke was referring when having that altercation with Ethan outside the nursery. Apparently, Zeke is no higher than the #2 in command of the Dharmites.

yes......."HE"??

What I'm getting from this thread confirms my reaction last night: yes, there was a lot of progression and advancement, but they were almost all obvious, or delivered obviously, and for me that robbed the plot of its intensity.

Sure Eko kind of sort of surfaced in this episode, great, but why wasn't Sayid's presence sustained after that fucking beatdown? Such stunted momentum.

One other interesting note about last night's episode. Did anyone else notice how Sawyer immediately dropped his facade and showed a nanosecond of genuine concern when Kate told him the baby was very sick? Perhaps James can be redeemed after all...

Or DeGroot? Or Locke's kidney-stealin' pappy?

Nah, he's just conning us again. A tiger don't lose his stripes....

I thought last night's episode was a big step back in the right direction but the stunted momentum comment is right on. Jack and Locke are still going back and forth with wild inconsistencies to their characters. First Jack is upset about holding the guy hostage, now he's all for it but they don't show him "coming to the dark side" so to speak, he's just helping hold him hostage.

Still, good to see the mythology is back and I'm once again excited to see what the next episode will bring.

Locke is disappointing me. Hold it together, man.

I don't know . . . I think Locke may really be playing Henry Gale. A "long con," if you will, learned from Sawyer. I think that Sawyer's episode was about more than just him gaining control of the guns - it was about Locke finding a new way to keep control of things, too. Looking back, it seems almost obvious that Locke was purposely mentioning the Hemingway story about how he was jealous of Dosteyevski, which was obviously meant as a jab at Jack about how Locke's bending to him lately. It worked out perfectly - Gale picked up on the tension and exploited to what he thinks is his own good. Locke's outburst at the end seemed far too clumsy and out of character to have NOT been a set-up. Locke will let this guy think he's actually having some effect on him, all while Locke is slowly picking information out of him. I wouldn't count on much, however, because I think, based on the previews, that Ana Lucia may have her way with Gale soon, probably before Locke can get much of value out of the guy.

Excellent thought, I hope you're right because that kitchen scene with Locke was embarrassing otherwise.

what's up with Zeke's fake beard? Does anyone else think that's strange that he would wear it just around the crash people?

I just found out Jin is from a town 5 miles away from me, which kinda kills the mystery. and he's in an upcoming movie the Onion made. huh?

they want the crash people to think the others are crazy jungle people, not weirdo doctors.

So you think Rousseau has the crazy, and that's why she killed her crew? Maybe what Ethan said was true - there's not enough vaccine for everyone, so they're scouting prospects and kidnapping them, leaving the others to fend for themselves. Desmond was taking the vaccine. Being that the hatch/button seem to be some kind of behavior experiment, it seems unlikely that he'd be put under the infulence of a mind-control serum. He was just pressing the button out of some natural fear, just like the Locke and company are doing now.

I read somewhere that the writers have promised that, by the end of season 2, we'll know what caused the plane crash.

So there's some good news.

The thing that's been bugging me lately is how there's, what, 50 people at the beach? And we only ever see the actions of the core dozen or so. We don't even see Hurley chatting with Random Guy or Sun and Some Girl working together in the garden. So if all this plane crash and people being on it was for a reason... Eko's brother's plane being on the island, Desmond knowing Jack, Hurley's numbers... then what? The other 35 people who we never see just happened to be on the plane? It sounds like this whole thing was planned somehow. So I find it hard to believe that these people were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Yeah, and I'm with Contradition - I'm not buying it. Some of it's probably true, but it's what we all have already guessed: "scientific" experiments headed up by the DHARMA initiative. The rest, especially #5: NO.

See here for a theory of what's really going to happen. No spoilers.

http://lostbutfound.typepad.com/

Sean Dunleavy - some nerd from Bermuda - thinks he might have found the key to understanding LOST: The tale might be an ALLEGORY, like George Orwell's ANIMAL FARM. Using Animal Farm as inspiration, he's been analyzing the show as a sci-fi retelling of actual current events, starting with 9/11. He reckons that, if everything on LOST is actually a metaphor for some actual political figure, or idea, or event, then we should be able to figure out what the writers are up to, and what's going to happen on the show next . . .

Charlie was pretty on tonight. Just his little grins whenever Locke and Jack were mentioned. And his taunting of Ana Lucia.

This Henry guy is a power player. Other or not, he's a sly mother.
