The only other forum I read is The Mix forum. I like everything in one forum.

They're little areas where people can go to up their post counts in an inconspicuous way.

Or if you prefer, they are "special interest" areas.

My experience from looking through messages board is that too many topic areas = a dead message board. It's like having a party in a space that is made up of many small unconnected rooms.

Elsewhere, I run a forum mainly for horror writers so there's a book den, of course, but we also have boards for movies/tv, art/comics, writing, music and a gab area. They each have their own little following, with the Book Den being the biggest attraction.

No one visits the gab area.

Heehee. But you have to understand, most of the members know of this other, looser board. I think that's where they go to gab.
