it was wonderful. it's coming out on dvd next week. rent it if you haven't seen it.

What's this movie about? The life of Truman Capote?

it's specific to the period where he's writing 'in cold blood.' it's actually not too bad for a biopic, but it's totally forgettable.

Holy crap. I didn't think the movie itself was exceptionally remarkable, but Hofffman's performance ranks among the best. You watch him in interviews and his voice, mannerisms, everything about him bear no resemblance whatever to Capote. But in the film he IS Capote.

Dude can act.

my God, where do you live that it cost 12 bucks? I thought the 10 I paid in San Jose was a lot.

I paid 3 bucks for it at a Sunday matinee. Occasionally small town theaters are good for something.

I tend to overemote when viewing overacting also.

i don't think i can see this movie because i couldn't put up with that voice for 2 hours.

oh please. even if you don't like psh's performance, catherine keener is great (however small the role) and chris cooper delivers another fine performance.

it's a very engaging story that is very well acted. totally forgettable? get serious.

first of all, digging this thread out is hilarious.

secondly, i absolutely stand by my statement. i have thought about that movie a grand total of zero times since i saw it.

as far as catherine keener goes, don't even get me started. i have never liked her dry, energy-depravied, unsupported- voiced performaces in anything. now don't freak out and get all upset about it because i already know that you like her in this and probably other stuff too, and you are certainly not alone even though you are without my company.

finally, the concept of ignoring the fact that the film is boring as hell and totally forgettable just because of psh's perfomance holds no water with me. i'm intereted in the overall effect of the piece, which in this case does not a damn thing for me. an actor's vanity is about the lamest thing to get excited about that i can think of.

i will never understand why people want to see these damn biopics. boring as hell. it's not as though there is a lack of information about truman capote in the world if you are really that interested in him. don't expect to see me in line the next time some big shot over at the record label convinces some big shot over at the movie studio to help him peddle some of his back catalogue to the masses either.

well said thrillhouse. very well defended. i can't argue with that. i just happen to like the film, even though i'm normally with you on the biopics (walk the line, ray, etc).
