I just saw this ad for Kraft Cheese Crumbles. They even redid the words - "That thing, you crave, these cheese crumbles'll blow you away" or some tripe like that.

I mean, I never liked EMF, hated this song, and feel no loss over this, I just hate it when any song gets bent over and co-opted like that, for a fucking processed cheese product.

Really, with this song, it's come full circle.

You know, those guys, with that song, back in like 93 or so. Popular in commercials for sporting events. Those guys.

they were actually called EMF. Supposedly it stood for "Ecstasy Mother FUcker" and 150 other crappy names. That song was fucking huge. It had an Andrew Dice Clay sample.

EMF was the band, not an acronym. Well, that's not entirely true

The name EMF officially stands for Epsom Mad Funkers, but there are unofficial alternatives, such as Every Mother's Favourite, Eat My Fetus, and Ecstasy Mother Fuckers (the last of which occurring in an unnamed bonus track on Schubert Dip).

"Unbelievable" was from around 1991. The Jesus Jones Era.

1991? That's how far behind we were in SC.

Yeah, this song and "Right Here, Right Now" effectively ruined Senior Year for me.

it is my opinion that we are experiencing a commercial golden age of taking popular music and changing the words into things related to the product, mostly food.

for example, papa johns' "we got the meat", the aforementioned "they're crumbelievable", most applebees commercials.

1991: The year punk broke. Hrm.

Oddly enough I make it a game to buy old EMF albums when I come across them in the used bins. I own. like 2, I think, now. Looking out for Cha Cha Cha.

Because I'm odd, and for some reason this constitutes a game in my mind. Kinda like the day my best friend and I drove all over the Baltimore metro area hunting down every Debbie Harry/Blondie related merch we could find...because we could.

I recently spoofed an Eastern's spot for my tv station. Complete with mariachi music. No Sean Paul though sadly.

well, it was actually a joke with my friend's one evening at a record store where we all took up at least one odd cd in our piles to see if this cute girl ringing people up would comment on any of them. Our geekiness showed through, she could've cared less, and we all ended up in the Taco Bell parking lot eating Gorditas and listening to "Pink Flag".

HA! it's amazing how much they charge to use that song in a commercial or movie too. pretty damn lame if you ask me.
