I bought both ND and Garden State on Saturday and instead of going out and getting drunk, we stayed in and watched both movies and got stoned. All we have been able to do the past three days is sigh loudly and moan gooooooooosh and frickin idiots. I guess I can't really tell you why I liked the movie so much, other than its high quotability.

I just thought it was plain old not funny. I wasn;t engaged by the characters or scenarios, and just felt like it was a waste of my time (which I easily could have wasted in more constructive ways!) - but I didn't HATE it. I was just a little bored and dissippointed by it.

You know, there's like a butt-load of gangs at this school. This one gang kept wanting me to join because I'm pretty good with a bowstaff.

I'm unearthing an old thread because I finally saw the movie. Though I don't really have anything to add. I liked it and I'll probably end up owning it because I felt the same way as Mr. Robot here...

When I frist saw the trailer I thought it looked good but never got a chance to see it. My friend saw it and ranted and raved about it telling me that i have to see it. It finally came to dvd and i was'nt able to rent it anywhere. I was going to best buy to get Anchorman, so I just said the hell with it and decided to buy it.

Overall I liked it, but it came nowhere near the hype that sorrunded it.

I was underwhelmed, if that's a word.

I finally got around to seeing it, too ( thanks, free HBO weekend! ) & was more entertained that I thought I'd be. I laughed out loud quite a bit.

"Tina - come get some ham!" lol.

Not a classic or anything, but I could see picking it up on DVD if Target had it for like $7.50 or somethin' .

Still don't have any interest in seeing it again.

And, judging by commercials alone, Jon Heder looks like he's playing the same character, minus the look, in that new David Spade/Rob Schneider crapfest.

Those of you who had it over-hyped... it gets better with viewings. I was very Meh the first time, luke warm the second, and laughing Hard by the third.

I have developed an odd affection for this movie over time. I never reached the "quoting" phase, but I genuinely appreciate some of the sentiments in the movie. That can't be a bad thing.

Jon Heder was pretty good in Just Like Heaven. Unfortunately, he sort of talks the way he did in Napolean Dynamite in real life, so it's hard to get ND out of your head when seeing him in anything else.

Although, I have no interest in that Schneider movie or any respect for self-respecting actors who agree to be in a schneider movie. His are and always have been the worst ones.

I knew I'd seen the uncle in some other stuff, so I IMDB'd him this AM. When I saw the "Real Genius" entry it all came together.

I also realized I remembered him from a couple of "Seinfeld" episodes...he was the homeless guy that kept Kramer's Tupperware, & hauled Kramer/Newman around in the rickshaw.

Yeah, me too. I ended up buying a used copy for $5. It was a good purchase.

I won't quote it in public, but friends and I - none of whom consider ourselves fans - will throw out a few lines from it now and then.

It's a weird movie. I never laughed much while watching it, but a lot of the little jokes have stuck with me.
