I'm cleaning out my home in Florida and I'm trying to get some of my vinyl records to NY.

There's a collection of 30-or-so records that I also have on CD. Talking Heads, Velvet Underground, Violent Femmes, Television, Beatles, etc...

--They aren't in good enough condition for collectors.
--They aren't worth lugging to NYC (because I have them all on CD, duh)
--No record store down here would take them.

What do I do with them?

List them here (choice ones, anyway), and some of us might buy 'em for reasonable prices. If you don't mind packing them up to ship, etc.

A fine one-time freelancer would gladly give them a good home and reimburse the shipping cost from FLA to MI.

Holla at my email.

Yeah, eBay is tough.

A) I'd have to lug them to NY anyway to do that.
B) I'd run the risk of some asshole collector being like (in comic book guy voice) "This is in AB- condition, which everyone KNOWS is worse condition that the 'OK' you listed them as. NEGATIVE FEEDBACK. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS LIAR."

Along with a friendly reminder of how you jacked that Wolf Eyes story out from under me.

Leave them on the back seat of the bus.

I picked up something really cool on the back seat of the bus once but I can't remember what it was, except that it was really cool. And it had a little note on it so it wasn't stealing. The note said something approaching "Take this, I don't want this anymore" or "If you like this, take it", something like that.

That would make someone's day. Velvet Underground vinyl on the bus!

that's an awesome idea, except you should leave them in random places with clues to find the next record. Do that for like 5 or 6 records and then make the 6th clue for the rest of the lot of records.

or don't.

Post a list here and take offers. You'd let go of 'em cheap, but if you don't want them and have no other way of getting rid of them, it's better than nothing. And, you'd know they're going to a good home.

If I were you, I'd probably refuse to sell 'em singly or shipping and all that gets to be a pain, although you get less in the end selling 'em as a group.

Although I really do like that leaving them around with notes on 'em idea.

The only people that ride the bus in Port Charlotte are the elderly.

There's some artist in Boston who left paintings all around town with notes to take them if you like them. My friend Michelle got one.

Cool concept but I would want to know that they were going into the hands of a music fan. If you just left it somehwere random some kid could end up just using it as a frisbee or something. Or throw it against a wall just to watch it break.

Actually, send them to me, I want to have a "Vinyl toss for distance" competition.................drunk of course.

If you leave the right music in the right bars, I think you'd be ok with people picking them up that wanted them.
