I saw pavement 3.5 times, and about half of those it was painful. I like Bob N. personality-wise a whole lot, he's probably my favorite member of the band. But motherfucker shouldn't be anywhere near a microphone.

seriously.

oh my god, two of my favorite bands mentioned in one thread.

wowee zowee's not so bad. not their best. i used to have "perfume-v" as my ringtone and got a lot of strange looks on the train.

i love me some sebadoh, but i'm tired as hell of seeing lou solo. i need them to get the band back together for real and perform a setlist that i've created. a girl can dream...

and i second that "sebadoh disease" question...

solo lou is pretty painful. the first time i saw him, it was tolerable because i was drunk out of my mind. the second time i saw him, he played for over two hours, i was sober, and he didn't even get around to playing the songs i really wanted to hear.

i saw sebadoh twice both were really really boring. and i was a huge fanboy the first time and less so the 2nd time.

pavement were insanly amazing the first three or four times i saw them. they became less interesting around the time of brighten the corners.

I think my experience follows this pattern to a certain degree as well. I remember leaving that Electric Factory show outright pissed.

First time I saw Pavement was just before CRCR came out and Stereolab opened. And the place was half full. That was one of the best shows I'll ever see, period.

Second time I "saw" Pavement was for the WZ tour. Things didn't go so well and I pretty much abandonded Pavement for a few years after my "Malkmus encounter." It took me a while to come around to getting that you can still like the music/band, even if they suck as people.

Saw Malkmus on his first solo tour, which was good and all.

I thought it was better than the last Pavement tour. Maybe because Bob was at the merch table.

I never got see Pavement in person, but I thought the live shows on Slow Century were pretty bad, especially the later one. I can't believe they put those on DVD.

I also saw Malkmus on tour after his first solo record and liked most of it. I never liked his solo songs much, but he performed them well. He also played "In the Mouth a Desert" which was pretty awesome.

I don't know if anybody else here has gotten to or is going to see the Silver Jews, but both Bob Nostanovich and Steve West are on tour with them. They're not actually part of the band, but when I saw them Steve was working the sound board and Bob played drums on a couple of songs (the onesfrom Starlite Walker, I think).

WZ has some of my favorite Pavement songs. It used to be my favorite album of theirs, but lately I've leaned more towards CRCR and S+E.

I saw Pavement at Lollapalooza '95. It was uninspiring with a lot of WZ material, but that may have to do with the fact they were playing a mid-day in Barrie, ON.
