I picked up 'Who's Your New Professor?' last year and it languished in the bottom middle region of my list but it has really grown on me lately (tracks were popping up a lot on my MP3 player).

Does he have any other albums worth picking up? I understand he was, or possibly is, involved with various bands in Chicago.

Also how do you pronounce his surname? Is it PREE KOP or PREK OP?

He was in Shrimp Boat you know...

EDIT: Seriously. And all of those records are worth picking up, as you knew I'd say. :D

I have assumed it is "pree kop," but then I also thought it was "Neh-ko Case" (like the wafers, you know?) when it's really "Neeko Case."

And I think he may have been in the Sea and Cake . . . and maybe Shrimp Boat.

He is the frontman for The Sea and Cake, who have released several albums over the years. My favorite is "The Biz," but "Nassau" seems to be the critical favorite. Their drummer is also in Tortoise, and the guitarist (Archer Prewitt) has put out several fine solo albums, the best of which is "White Sky" IMO IMO IMO

There is a S/T release from 1999. I have it but havent played it in a while (maybe only once ever). I probably should revisit it, as I liked Professor.

He is one of my favorite musicians EVER. If I end up going to Lolla I plan to stalk him.

Pick up his first solo record (self-titled). It is a perfect record.
(See my posting on the NP thread from last Friday...)

I'd also recommend the Sea & Cake's "The Fawn". Beautiful stuff.
