I liked the song, "Dudley," on bgl3's mix. Sounds like a variation of "Maps." I wouldn't mind the CD having some "Black Tongues" on there. But I don't mind their poppy side either.

Show Your Bones isn't really doing it for me. Fever to Tell was a breath of fresh air because it had a nice, raw sound to it, but this new album seems to completely ignore that whole aesthetic, which was arguably their greatest strength. Everything's so clean-cut and calculated on the new record.

Fever to Tell's songwriting was also a lot more dynamic than the tunes on Show Your Bones. Most of the songs on the latter seem to play it safe and cater to Top-40 radio.

And did they cut off the guitar player's balls or something? Everything I liked about his performance on their debut is gone. He sounds like a generic studio musician now.

Based on the comments in this thread, I think I'm gonna like this album a whole bunch.

I haven't heard the new album yet,
but I like the Gold Lion single.
It gets stuck in my head for days, whether I like it or not.

YYY's are one of those bands you either love or hate.

I see it as rock'n'roll junkfood.

You take it for what it is,
and enjoy it without expecting longevity or substance.

Nick Zinner still rules me, though.
