So, this morning, I am listening to some old mixes that I made. Some Ben Kweller song comes on. I have never been a fan of his recorded stuff. But HOLY SHIT this dude rips at his live shows. Anyone else see him live?

I like all the Bens. On their albums, at least. I haven't seen any of them live.

I saw Kweller on tour for his first album. I though he pretty great. Good band and dude pulled off pretty much everything with style.

I caught a half assed glance of Ben Kweller at ACL in 2003 on my way to the stage where Yo La Tengo was about to play. I was pretty far away. That's the most I've seen of him.

I have seen him twice. He outperformed DCFC when he opened for them in 2003, and he played an awesome acoustic show at the University of Nebraska last year.

I have seen him on his tour supportin 'Sha Sha'. Very good live. he rocks a bit harder that on his album. Played a small club in Tempe, Bash on Ash. That club went under. why is in so hard to keep clubs the support indie/upcoming rock acts open. In the 4 years I,ve lived in Phoenix, I've seen at 5 venues close.

Is his sound still like the Sha Sha album? There was once where I really thought a lot of that record, but as years passed, it just annoys me. For the record, I remember him being a good performer when I caught him a few times in maybe '02?

np: Caviar-Thin Mercury Sound

Ben Lee is so bad live that you'll never listen to anything he's ever done again once you've seen him. Except maybe Cigarettes Will Kill You.

Yes, but he was all up in Claire Danes.

MAXIMUM RESPECT.

A very drunk Busty heckled him on that first tour. "Pull out the fuckin' SG again, dude! Put that acoustic away."

i saw him live once with death cab and pedro the lion. good show but the funny thing was that bk took the stage solo with an acoustic guitar. he claimed that his bassist had broken his hand the day before playing wiffle ball in the parking lot of the previous venue. it was funny though, kweller took random cover requests from the audience and basically amused himself...and in turn the rest of us standing there. pretty good showman. while i'm not terribly impressed with his studio output, he was very fun live.

First, he's with Claire Danes. Then, he's with a SuicideGirl. Who's next?

I'm in this category. I saw him in 2003 (I think) w/ Death Cab, and he outplayed them that night, too.

I heard a live version of the song "Sha Sha" and it's pretty f-ing great.
