I might agree...TFFL has held up better, sonicaly(sp?).. but the songs are there...the production is lagging on SATD.

Too Fast for Love is a classic album. I play that album a lot.

Shout at the Devil is pretty damn good as well, as is Theatre of Pain. I've never liked GGG, it seemed dumb even by Motley Crue standards and that's saying something.

Motley Crue had the best "VH1 Behind the Music" ever!

Yeah I started tuning them out once Theatre Of Pain came out and they were on the fast track to suckdom.

Oh, thanks for recommending this... I think there were a few others on the board who thought this book was hilarious as well. While waiting for another book to come in at the library, I picked this one up to cruise through. I haven't been able to put the damn thing down. Yes, truly sick and disgusting, but entertaining. They really lived that hard rock 'n' roll lifestyle. I was never a fan though.

I really liked all of Tommy's chapters. I picture him dictating all his chapters into a mic so he didn't have to type. There are a lot of 'mans' and 'bro's' in there from him. My most memorable part is where he's talking about the Birthday party Pamela threw for him that involved a bunch of midgets and rides home in hired ambulances. I think they spent a few hundred thousand dollars on the bash. That's livin'!!

Tommy strikes me as rather selfish (they all do, really), but the funny thing about Tommy's chapters is he really doesn't think he's ever done anything wrong in his life.

The Mick Mars chapters are brutal, esp. when talking about his illness. He may seem like a pushover but he seems like the most mature and realistic one of the bunch.

The Vince chapters are either/or for me. Sometimes he seems like a likable guy, other times he seems like a raging asshole.

Nikki... hmm, always thought there was something strangely attractive about him, but after reading about his drug issues, JESUS! That guy's a mess.

I also thought it was funny how in all of these guys lives, they wonder why they get taken for everything they're worth when they hook up with porn stars and Playmates as wives and then get divorced.

I think you've got all of the boys in the Crue figured out. They certainly do have a WHY ME? kinda attitude.

Really the whole book is a big wtf?noway!! cover to cover.

Nikki though somehow comes out as the tragic hero in that book. And he actually wrote all those damn songs.

Mick is, like, approximately the same age as Phillis Diller, isn't he?

You'd think that by his looks, but he's actually only 48. He looks about 68.

That's because Tommy's the only one that's not a pussy. He lived as hard as any of the other fuckers in that band, but never killed anyone (like Vince), got addicted and/or od'd (like Nikki), or acted antisocial (like Mick).

Tommy is as real as it gets. Sure, I have no love for spouse abusers, though. But otherwise, let's think about it: son of a Greek beauty queen (a man after OPA's heart, I'm sure), hung (literally) like a horse, and steered the damn boat with his engorged junk, envisioned the spinning drum cube, swallowed light-bulbs, mainlined Jack Daniels, married not just Pamela Anderson but also Heather Locklear (I am sure she was ruint for Richie, in terms of girth), built a Starbucks into his home-studio, etc., etc., etc. The man is a prince.

Yes. Yes. Oh my.

"The Dirt" struck me like when you were done you're supposed to be left with a feeling of "those guys were all messed up, but they're not so bad at heart, really". But my experience was when I was done I was like, "Man, those guys are fucking douchebags". lol.

And their new song was written by Simple Plan. Not Staind, but close enough on the Suckmeter.
