Except that Midnight Oil have always campaigned FOR the rights of first nations peoples. Garrett would be more apt to support the right to the seal hunt than to speak out against it. Also, equating a vegan britfruit's babbling with what Garrett has fought for over the past 30 years is way off-base.

My problem is not with natives killing seals for food. My problem is with the wahoos who participate "cuz it's fun to beat on shit and don't fuckin' knock my heritage." And there certainly are some of those.

I find it hard to believe that a single person who would go to a Morrissey show would be the same kind of person in favor of killing seals.

believe it. i whole heartily support the seal hunt, and i think morrissey should stay the hell out of canadas internal matters.

Morrissey, The McCartney's, Brigitte Bardot and their ilk simply haven't got a clue.

I'm totally against the seal thing, obviously. This is the first I've heard of it too. My point is that his not coming here to protest it doesn't seem like it will make that much of a difference at all.

It would really almost make more of a difference if he played a tour here and gave out pamphlets at the shows. If this is the first I've heard of it, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if 75% of the crowds at these shows would've been hearing about it for the first time too.

If it's the first you've heard of it, you've probably heard only the anti-hunt activists side of the story, why are you "totally against [it]"? Do you always form opinions on issues after only hearing one side of an issue?

When one side involves killing animals, yes. With the exception that I'm not a hard vegetarian, I'm pretty much pro-PETA in every way. And I'm firm against any kind of hunting of any kind of animal.

It's all about being on top of the food chain. Maybe Moz should protest against sharks, they kill seals too.

the only reason this is getting so much play in the media is because seals are "cute". the production of veal is pretty reprehensible, especially compared to sealing, but nobody cares about them because theyre not cute. its also not totally true that all the seals hunted are used for coats only. the inuit in nunavut and greenland eat seal like we do beef or pork (except they dont cook it usually).

You can spin it any way you want to, it's still wrong. Well, my day is ruined. :(
