I'm writing a letter to some HR person and want to address them as Mr. or Ms. Which one should it be? I guess if I was to mess up they wouldn't forget my name maybe.

np: Manu Chao-Clandestino

i believe larie is a boy's name. it's related to the french alaire, which is a relative of hilary.

i had this problem last fall with someone named shannon. i've known a handful of men and women with the name, so i addressed them by their full name in the letter.

Thanks for the input, all. I thought of To Whom.. but I figured throwing their name in there looked better. Hmmm

i've always been advised against the "to whom it may concern" route, but i also don't exactly have the best job-searching luck, so maybe hearing me out on this type of stuff isn't good.

That's why I wanted to address that person by name. I think To Whom is going to be the chosen route for this one.

It's clearly not a name.

They must mean Laurie.

Address it "Dear Larie X"--full name, no Mr. or Ms.

Or call the receptionist at the company and tell the truth--"I'm sending a letter to Larie X; is that Mr. X or Ms. X?"

Or how about "Dear Human Resources Cunt"?

I almost, almost had the orchestra job at Waubonsie Valley High 4 years ago, but they thought I was brilliant but too young. Now that I'm not too young, i'm damaged goods.

Districts. I'm a Waubonsie graduate and that would have been a pretty solid gig because I'm sure the band has all the resources they need, especially back then when there was only one high school.
