Belle and Sebastian put on a great show. For sure.

I'm a dick and forgot to get tix and the bitch sold out. My buddy really wanted to go, so he did the craigslist leg-work to get us tix. Devotion. I coulda gone either way, but I'm glad he did the work; it was a fine, fine show.

The new girl in the Pornos doesn't suck. Case's are hard shoes to fill, but I thought she did a pretty good job. Obv she didn't try her hand at anything like Occupant. My only critique is that her voice sounds too polished, too trained. She's obviously had infi voice lessons and it's distracting.

While their show was just fine, it really hammered home what a pile of crap their new album is. Like two or three good songs and then nothing.... gawd, what the hell happened? Romantic and Electric are ridiculous and then they give us this? BLECH.

On the other hand!! The new B & S is insane and it showed at the show. Holy crap do i love this album. Holy crap did they put on a great show. I really enjoyed all the shifting between songs; watching people change instruments, getting into place, interesting. It was a high-energy show. This was their last show in the states and they really could've phoned it in, but they brought it and put on a hell of a show.

Stuart's banter is pretty cheesy, but the cute girls in front of us laughed at every stupid thing he said, so I appreciated all of it. Except for during Sukie when they played like they saw her in the audience. Clearly done at every show, and clearly lame each time. kinda painful.

The show ended with both bands on stage doing a big number of a song that i've heard a million times, but can't fucking for the life of me remember the name... christ... oh... nm.

Fun show. Life Pursuit = :nugene:

Twin Cinema = :thumbsdown:

I think I read that they've been doing a Def Leppard song together? They didn't do any joint venture at our date, but we were the first leg of the tour.

I almost got tickets to the show in Milwaukee when I thought I was going there to visit my girlfriend's brother and his family. It's really the only reason why I was mad I couldn't go, that and the brewery tours.

you're better off for it. the set list in milwaukee was like a worst-of belle & sebastian, with the exception of the life pursuit's songs.

Not true. I really enjoyed the Milwaukee show. Tomorrow i'll be able to remember the set list but i know we heard "electronic renaissance", "she's losing it", "me and the major", "jonathan david", "if she wants me", i'm a cuckoo", "fox in the snow" "if you're feeling sinister"
"judy and the dream of horses"

i walk into every show with a short list of songs that i want to hear. and they did not play one non-the life pursuit song that i wanted to hear that night. "fox in the snow" is okay on record, i guess, but it is a bore live. and they didn't play "if she wants me" because i wanted to hear it and i didn't.

they didn't carry momentum with the set list either. whenever stuart teased the crowd about having never played milwaukee, they broke into something that keeps all the people who call B&S "sad bastard music" nodding affirmatively. "i'm a cuckoo" was really flat. "she's losing it" and "if you're feeling sinister" were good, though. i'll admit to that. i mean, i liked the show because i suppose you can't fault a band for playing well through a bad set list. they made their plan and stuck to it, but there are about a dozen songs by them i could list off the top of my head that are better than all but two or three songs they played that night.

you and i must be different types of belle & sebastian fans.

I also wanted to hear Piazza, New york Catcher, You're just a baby, dirty dream number 2, It could have been a brilliant career, stars of track and field, seeing other people, get me away from here.....,etc etc..but i thought it was great. and they played "women's realm".

Sounds like the Chicago setlist was quite different from the Milwaukee one. We also had "I'm A Cuckoo" and "Electronic Renaissance" but none of the others you mentioned. We did have "Piazza, New York Catcher" and "Get Me Way I'm Dying", as well as "Dog On Wheels", "Lazy Line Painter Jane", "Expectations", "The Wrong Girl", "A Century Of Fakers", "The State I Am In", "Sleep The Clock Around" and several others I'm sure I'm forgetting.

chicago setlist >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> milwaukee setlist

I was at that Milwaukee show and enjoyed the show, but hated the setlist. They didn't play any of my favorites. I 100% regret never seeing them before this year. They've played Chicago almost every year for as long as I've lived here.

we didn't get "get me away from here, i'm dying" or "expectations" or "the state i am in" and they've played all of them on this tour - tremendously disappointing.

i wasn't too upset by not hearing songs that they haven't played at all on this tour ("the boy with the arab strap" or "step into my office, baby"), though.

Wow really?

I thought the New Pornos were spot on in Milwaukee. Everysong they did sounded great. And the tunes off Twin Cinema were excellent. I dont think they have lost anything from Mass Romantic, in fact, I think they have gotten better.

Louisville setlist:

* The Stars Of Track And Field
* Another Sunny Day
* Funny Little Frog
* Belle & Sebastian
* Sukie In The Graveyard
* Electronic Renaissance
* Seymour Stein
* Dog On Wheels
* We Are The Sleepyheads
* Dress Up In You
* Slow Graffiti
* Act Of The Apostle Part 1
* Act Of The Apostle Part 2
* Simple Things
* I'm A Cuckoo
* Jonathan David
* White Collar Boy
* Judy And The Dream Of Horses
* The Fox In The Snow
* Me And The Major

Great show. And since B&S have always been a bit image shy, I had no idea what to expect live - visually and otherwise. It almost felt like going to a show before the internet age when you can virtually know every detail you are going to witness. Show increased my appreciation for the band.
