Been trying to get my head round what HIM are all about. I got a hold of the recent comp. album on the strength of hearing Solitary Man over and over when I was in Finland last spring. Solitary Man and some of the other stuff totally rocks ('When Love and Death Embrace' 'Sweet 666'), but some of the newer stuff is so piss-weak. Also, the lyris...this guy gets treated like a god in some circles, but the lyrics are soooo cheesy and not even particularly well crafted:
'Love’s the funeral of hearts
And an ode for cruelty
When angels cry blood
On flowers of evil in bloom
The funeral of hearts
And a plea for mercy
When love is a gun
Separating me from you'
Please. So, HIM fans: did the band really change form the 1st 2 records to this pretty commercial over-produced sounding things like 'Join Me' and stuff?
