WOW.

Dusty Rhodes used to do some radio in Atlanta and he told some (probably BS) stories about wrestling Billy Graham at MSG and then piling into a limo with Andy Warhol, Halston, Graham, Vanessa Redgrave, and a bunch of blow and hitting Studio 54...

...where they were all given head by Steve Rubell.

Yeah, the best were Dusty's stories about Andre The Giant drinking like 60 beers and four bottles of wine and not even catching a buzz.

And Andre peeing on a hooker in a bordello in New Orleans.

I hope Dusty writes that book that he has been threatening. If only he could write or read.....

I told him to pile drive those people immediately.

It's not just "some" vegans. No real vegan eats honey.

No meds (unless they're really, really sick - so no meds for anything aspirin would fix)/caffeine
Vegan
No abortion in the community
Vegan and punch out meat eaters ...

Until I read this, I seriously didn't know what straight edge is. Evidently some ridiculous lifestyle choice.

Same here…
I guess I don't understand the fact that they can't/won't do meat, drugs and shit but the tats are fine. If the objective is to live clean then getting a tat, especially in a tat parlor would seem like a contradiction. If they do it themselves like the aboriginals did that might be different.

I just don't get it I guess. :?

This is mostly a guy demographic i gather, right?

if they had more girls in that scene, maybe they wouldn't break.

But if you're not gonna get tail, or eat meat, what else is there? Might as well get a tat or pierce up.

But a lifestyle tat is just as dangerous as getting your significant other's name inked.

it originated from "out of step" by minor threat, which had the lyrics "i don't smoke, don't drink, don't fuck. at least i can fucking think."

and this got blown up by people who thought it was a mandate. (the "i" at the beginning of the song is barely audible.) it was just a song and it got out of hand.

bjw's correct that it boils down, traditionally, to no alcohol, drugs, or smoking. if you hear the lyrics, though, the "fuck" part is right there, so i think not being promiscuous is as important as the others, but, well, you know, some people like to make their own rules. there is actually a ton of discourse written on the subject.

i've never heard of any correlation between edge and pro-life, though.

i've known quite a few edge girls, but they've all broken pretty hard.

so Z, just for the sake of discussion, do you consider yourself "Edge" or are you just a dude who doesnt drink, smoke, or drug?

at this point, i think i'm just a guy who doesn't drink, smoke, or do any drugs. i went edge in high school and kept on it through college. the music doesn't appeal to me as much now as it did then. i still like what i used to, but nothing new excites me. and i never go to hardcore shows anymore. over the past two years, i haven't said that i'm straight-edge very much. i didn't break, though. and i don't really see myself breaking. i guess it's that the idea of the label doesn't appeal to me anymore.

cool. makes sense. I can see that scene being a "scene" and then you move on just like anything else.

but big ups for staying smoke, drink, drug free. not easy I am sure especially if you go out a lot.

Someone who is seriously vegan won't eat honey. Not necessarily because it may have harmed the bees, but because it is an animal biproduct in general. Also, no leather, silk, anything like that. The guy I'm seeing is vegan, though he's not straight-edge. He does have a 'vegan' tattoo along with lots of others. And he's not militant about it at all... afterall, he's dating a girl who doesn't eat vegetables and lives on meat, cheese, and bread.
