Wasn't this a 2003 release? If not, I need to listen to it more so I can consider it for my top 20.

I believe it was May 2004 and it was in the drop down list too. I really enjoy this album a lot.

I haven't heard much of the album, but the song 'Long Time Coming' is one of my favorite songs of 2004.

Interesting, the CD I have is labeled 2003. I'm glad it's one more I can consider for my 2004 list though, I barely have 20 total.

I've got this on order. It'll probably arrive like January 2, 2005 and it'll be one of those 'would haved voted for it 18 months ago if I'd had it then" CDs.

Everyone of you is like those annoying swatty types that always hand in their essays and assignments in long before the deadline while cool types, like say, off the top of my head, me, hang off until the very last day and then saunter along and hand it in with 10 minutes left till deadline. And then the lecturer (or in this case Shmoo) arches an eyebrow as if to say "you ought not to leave it this late, but I know this is going to be so much better than everyone elses rubbishy efforts". And then I swan off again and everyone is talking and saying how cool I am and asking where I got that leather jacket from.

I left the Honeydogs off the list because it's a 2003 release.

Well, it did get a very limited release at the end of last year mainly for the critics, but it wasn't officially released until March 23, 2004. I can see calling it a 2003 if many people could've bought it then, but it was similar to the Broken Social Scene situation last year where many called it 2002 since it got a tiny release then, but I called it 2003 since that's when it got distribution enough for most people to buy it. Doesn't really matter since I'll probably be the only vote for it, be it 2003 or 2004. Just wanted to give it some notice since it is an outstanding album that I think very few have heard :)

Nice job btw on the poll!

Top 10 Favorites of 2004:
1. Bark Psychosis - Codename: Dustsucker (still a shame that this is tough to find)
2. Blonde Redhead - Misery is a Butterfly
3. Luna - Rendezvous (after repeated listens I think it's their best since Penthouse)
4. Ted Leo - Shake the Sheets (doesn't quite have the same highs as the last 2, but I think it's his most consistent work)
5. Sonic Youth - Sonic Nurse
6. Guided By Voices - Half-Smiles of the Decomposed (not a bad way to go out)
7. Wilco - A Ghost is Born
8. Mission of Burma - Onoffon
9. American Music Club - Love Songs for Patriots
10. Califone - Heron King Blues

Les Savy Fav's Inches would have been #1 if compilations counted.

Top Album Featuring a Recipe For Sweet Potato Pie In One of the Songs:
The Ex - Turn

This list will change dramatically when I remember all the albums I've forgotten throughout the year.

20. Ghost - Hypnotic Underworld
Shouldn't really be a surprise, but we have at least 3, if not as many as 6, of the same entries on our lists. (I'm still working mine down.)

Okay, done my top 20. There were only maybe 3 or 4 albums that I've heard that didn't make my list -- Sonic Youth, The Cure, Fiery Furnaces -- and I would've included Smile but I don't feel it's technically a 2004 release. So I left it off just to save the trouble.

Top 20 of 20-04
#1. Joanna Newsom – The Milk-Eyed Mender
2. Iron & Wine – Our Endless Numbered Days
3. Stars – Set Yourself On Fire
4. The Arcade Fire – Funeral
5. The Organ – Grab That Gun
6. Modest Mouse – Good News For People Who Love Bad News
7. Ben Kweller – On My Way
8. Franz Ferdinand – Franz Ferdinand
9. Tegan And Sara – So Jealous
10. A.C. Newman – The Slow Wonder
11. Animal Collective – Sung Tongs
12. The Magnetic Fields – I
13. Morrissey – You Are The Quarry
14. Air – Talkie Walkie
15. Lowest of The Low – Sordid Fiction
16. By Divine Right – Sweet Confusion
17. The Streets – A Grand Don’t Come For Free
18. Lisa Loeb – The Way It Really Is
19. Interpol – Antics
20. PJ Harvey – Uh Huh Her
