I didn't realise this was on tonight, as I was at a bar watching Wrestlemania.

I think I missed their performance, but Broken Social Scene just won 'Alternative Album Of The Year' which is cool. Sadly, this was followed up by a Black Eyed Peas performance.

Bad music is universal.

Reading the site, it appears the rest of the awards were pretty bad with a few exceptions:

Arcade Fire for Songwriter Of The Year

Neil Young for Adult Alternative Album Of The Year

and the Hip for music dvd of the year.

Alberta rockers Nickelback, who spent the afternoon signing autographs for thousands of frenzied fans at an event at Pier 21, were named group of the year.

"I know that all of you know I'm a big mouth and I have nothing to say right now. This never gets old," said front man Chad Kroeger accepting the award. "The feeling is the most incredible thing."

Glad Neil won something for Prairie Wind. And that Hip dvd is excellent.

Good for him.

Yeah, that was a little surprising. I hate those stupid categories.

That Martha Wainwright didn't win best new artist shows that the Junos are just as irrelevent as the Grammies.

Who did? Oh, Daniel Powter and Bedouin Soundclash.

Well, I've never heard of the former and I've only heard the one song from the latter.

But BS have been around for about five years so yeah, that sounds about right.

Powter is Susan Powter's son. He's a bit chirpy, but less aggravating than a Jason Mraz-type person.

Martha could only be best new artist the way that Shelby Lynne could get the Grammy for the same. Not new at all, but new as far as the voters were concerned.

The sad fact that Best Album Of The Year was a choice between the little boy Sinatra apery of Michael Buble, Diana Krall's Christmas album, Nickelback, and two losers from Canadian Idol proves that even the Grammys are more relevant than the Junos. Fuck the Junos. This country can really suck huge amounts of ass.

Shelby Lynne's got a lot of albums. Martha has one, making her truly a "new artist."

If you discount her EP's, I guess she's "new."

Ha ha! You were wrong, Frosted, and I was right! Ha ha! Ha! Ha ha ha! Ha. Wait a minute. It doesn't mean anything anyway, does it? Damn.

Really, really bored today, people. Really bored.

She has 6 eps.

Well, 2 singles and 4 eps - and 2 of the 4 were released in '05. She's really not comparable in any way to Shelby Lynne, who had a few full-lengths and a whole failed career before she won the Best New Artist grammy.

Yeah, but then I'd have to admit I'm wrong.

Umm, I...aahhhhmmmmmm...rawww...really certain that Martha should have won.
