COPS are hunting SPIDERMAN - after he tried to rob an off-licence.

A yob wearing the superhero's outfit burst into a Haddows store and screamed at staff to give him money.

When terrified workers refused the maniac tried to smash their protective screen with a hammer.

Staff raised the alarm and he fled empty-handed.

Last night a shop insider said "There were two staff on duty when this joker burst in wearing a Spider-Man costume. At first they thought it was a joke and he was off to a fancy dress party but things turned violent quickly.

This maniac started screaming at them and banging a hammer off the screen. But the staff hit the panic button which goes straight to the police and the alarm went off.

Spidey ran off at that point leaving the two workers pretty shaken."

Cops have now appealed for witnesses to the raid which happened on Friday at 8.40pm in Glasgow's Battlefield area.

A police spokesman said "This was a particularily nasty incident which left the staff members very frightened.

Anyone who saw a man running away wearing or removing a Spider-Man costume should contact us."

i was really hoping this was going to be about someone climbing walls with suction cups

Talk about crime fitting into a neighborhood. Scotland has a battlefield area?

Who knew?

The Battlefield Band are one of my favorite old-school folk acts.

Believe me, Battlefield is the sort of area Spider-Man would need to have a hammer on him.

For the record, my favourite Glasgow area name is Auchenshuggle which sounds really nice and quaint and scenic but is in fact the location of an abandoned steel works which car thieves drive round at speed, before burning the vehicles out in the grounds.
