went up to a friend's house in the hilltowns and annihilated dozens of soda cans and plastic bottles with my red ryder bb gun.

in other news, today my son will be eating a large order of curly fries and several candy bars for lunch.

You don't like me posting about my kids?
Don't read the posts.

I'm a proud papa, goddamnit.

Don't fuck with me, lest you unleash another torrent of boring, self-loathing, threads that you'll hate even more.
;)

EDIT: Okay, I'll bite (in other ways)... did you really take your kid BB gun shooting? Sounds like fun.

Glad you didn't shoot your eye out.

i would believe you if i didn't know that red ryders are nearly incapable of denting soda cans, much less annihilating them.

you know, i wanted to hang a gym mat on one wall in my apartment to shoot at but thought that would be a really bad example to my kids and their friends.

-todd, i was laughing more at myself and my son than you. and don't even attempt a parent-off with me. lighten up and don't make me start calling you daytodd.

-haq, how many inches away from your soda can were you standing? yes, annihilate was an exageration to make the post a little funnier in comparison to todd's thread. cardigan buttoned a little too tight today?

Also, I have always been the sensitive type. Being a picked-on geek growing up will do that to you. I think that's why I tend to react more than most. But that's neither here nor there.

No parent-off.
I like it when you post about your son.
It makes me feel better about posting about my guys. Less like I'm boring people, and more like there are some of you who can appreciate the pride and feel it along with me.

oh, and speaking of cardigans, i finally found out how you're supposed to wear one recently. i was on a plane with an elderly japanese man who was wearing 2 button-up collared shirts, one over the other, and a cardigan over those, buttoned in the back.

i actually got it as a "gag" birthday gift from my youngest sister two years ago.
yesterday was the first time we used it. i was that desperate to get my son out of the house and engaged in something other than star trek reruns. i'm not sure if it was better but at least we had fun.

At a prior residence, I was the KING of throwing a pair of scissors from across the room and getting them to stick in the wall.

DUDE, where are Bloor and Busty in this thread. When they lived at Pluma, we would get hammered and shoot bb's at bottles stuck in their fence, aerosol cans, etc...

GOOD TIMES.

I have fond childhood memories of Shooting With Dad, sniff. My excuse is that I'm from SC. What will your boy say?

Mind you, Shooting With Dad mostly involved at least a 32 semi, but that was dad for you. Maybe you can work up?

I bought that bb gun at a K-Mart in Jacksonville FL. I was gonna take it home again one day, but it just felt so "right" at their place. It was good for scaring the roosters out of the yard at 5am... once they cut "gun ports" into the screens on all the windows.

And this made me chuckle.
