Anyone picking up the reissued/enhanced versions of these tomorrow? I had to settle with used copies up until now, and they were pretty scratched up and weren't even the remastered versions.

I'm excited about these being released again because World Party's one of the best bands that I've discovered over the last year and I'll finally be able to own the remastered version of Goodbye Jumbo, which apparently sounds 10x better than the original edition.

I actually looked at these tonight while putting them away. I own no world party. In the canon of WP, how are these?

I love these albums. Do the reissues have any bonus cuts?

I have my $2 vinyl of Private Revolution, haven't listened to it in over 12 years. I think I'm long on World Party.

That's a good question. I'll let you know once I pick up the albums.

If anyone wants to hear some tracks from these two albums, you can download them below.

"Ship of Fools" (from Private Revolution)

"Is It Too Late?" (from Goodbye Jumbo)

These reissues are remastered, but the bonus cuts aren't on the albums themselves. However, the CDs have a data portion that links to a site where you can download bonus tracks for each release. I guess Wallinger didn't want to change the flow of the albums or something.

They all matter.

I won't be buying the reissues. I don't do that unless I think my copies sound crappy which they don't. I really want the new album though whenever that comes out.

The new album is actually a re-release of Dumbing Up with bonus tracks, a new tracklist and a DVD. Karl suffered a brain aneurysm after it was released and didn't really get a chance to properly promote it for years due to his medical condition.

I think about 10 people actually bought it back in 2000, so you can basically say it's a new album to most people. :)

I was aware Dumbing Up was getting us distro finally. I guess I'm actually one of the 10 that bought it though. Maybe frosting is one of the others.

I'm pretty sure that I read there is an actual new album coming out though but that it was a few months after all the reissues. I'm too lazy to search though.

edit: I'm not as lazy as I thought although I couldn't find any info so maybe I'm wrong on that. I could have sworn I read about a new album although maybe it was just that they were touring which they are.

Here's a little treat someone uploaded to YouTube recently. It's World Party performing "Ship of Fools" live in 1987.

There's no such thing as a bad World Party album, but Dumbing Up comes close. You'll love it. ;)

Hey, these aren't bad, thanks. I remember this band from 15 years ago but never got into them then.

The singer sounds like Michael Hutchence to me!

WP trivia: Sinead O'Connor appears in the video for Private Revolution.

This is SO wierd, I was just about to post an urgent call to anyone that might have these, as I miss Private Revolution and sing songs from it all the time, but lost the vinyl way back when. Thanks, these are going on my shopping list right now.

This might be old news by now, but I just found out that World Party are on tour in support of the Dumbing Up re-release. Due up here on August 9, in a small club for cheap - they don't seem to be getting much hype behind 'em, so keep an eye out.
