...pretty damn good.

to be perfectly honest I've been looking foward to hearing where they were going to sound like on this record. I know they got Rick Rubin to produce, old school non-nashville country players, and Gary Louris (Jayhawks) to help with the songwriting. You can definitely hear Gary's influence on this new track.

Here's a link to the video.

I don't know what to call it, the bridge or just an alternate verse, but that middle of the song is great.

Out of all the contemporary commercial country I have never really disliked/hated The Dixie Chicks, despite their godawful name.

I can officially say that is the first Dixie Chicks songs that I've half enjoyed ever. Not bad at all.

Best thing they've ever done musically, but I'd rather hear The Jayhawks do it, and can they ditch the My Heart Will Go On Philharmonic? I swear to god they hire James Horner to do the string arrangements, and they get Sandra Dackow to dumb them down enough for MTSU's orchestra.

As far as the video, I'm waiting for Beetlejuice to jump out, and the fat chick dropped some weight, but she still has linebacker shoulders.

eh. I'm not too impressed with it. I don't like her voice to be honest, so I'm a bit biased.

The video is god awful as well. How about we not try to do an artsy video to a country song? For some reason, it reminded me of that vid for Crash Test Dummies' "mmmmm mmm mmm".

Reminded me of Ringu crossed with local community college rendition of The Scarlet Letter, with a guest appearance of the chalkboard from Pearl Jam's Jeremy.

Have gone on record before as liking the Chicks.
Good musicians, good singers and more of a "true" country sound than 99% of their contemporaries. Home is about 50% excellent, 25% meh, 25% suck... that's a lot better than most albums on major labels these days in ANY genre, let alone the cesspool that is popular country music.

I am looking forward to hearing this (can't really watch at work).

Get the latest Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash album, Mile Markers, you'll feel much better.

So this video didn't remind anyone else of Beetlejuice? I mean, besides the chalkboard.

Look, just watch it with the volume turned down and put on Harry Belafonte's Jump in De Line.

You will be TRANSPORTED.

No shit, the fucking strings are mixed WAY too high though chubby (the Dixie Heifer as Imus calls her) sounds great.

Dunno, I actually like the Dixie Chicks but this is bordering on over dramatic drivel.

I bet they just alienated their whole fanbase by making a good song.

(If they had any fanbase left after they ripped on Bush who is the idol of their fans.)

didn't like the song at all, to slow and boring. I'm mad as hell that anyone thinks this is a good song. The chicks don't do angry songs well and the strings are awful.

Plus the Video reminds me of a bad version of the Heart Shaped box video for some reason.

You're mad as hell that anyone thinks this is a good song? Dude, that really must be hyperbole, I'm hoping.

If it isn't, go out for a smoke or something. Life's too short to have personal investment into other people's music taste.

I mentioned it before our baseball draft, but I ran into Natalie Maines a week ago Sunday. Was in Vegas to watch the Sweet 16/Elite 8 games and see the Death Cab concert. After the show while exiting the HOB, they were letting people go over to the smaller side where a Prince cover band named "Purple Rain" was playing. Being intoxicated and older, my wife and I went to check it out. Well after more beers, she convinces me to dance which happens about once every decade. I wanted to set my beer down so I ask this 8 person table with only 2 people there next to the dance floor if they cared if I parked my beer.

The answer was no. WTF?

Actually, the big guy said yes then the blonde chick said no. I said thanks in the most saracastic tone I could muster and went back to dancing like a dork to "Little Red Corvette" but still a little pissed at the situation. Then it hits me, that's Natalie Maines. I go up to the body guard later in the evening who said yes earlier and he says it is her but she wants to be left alone. Cool, just wanted to park my beer afterall. He said no problem, and I said your secret is safe with me. The rest of the night was a blur although I do remember dancing close to Natalie all night and parking my mf beer on her table.

My wife is still cracking up about it.

Btw, Natalie looked goooood. She's put in some personal trainer time.

The singer says that shes mad as hell in the chorus, I was trying to be funny.
