As mentioned in pitchfork.....

Wow...i never thought i'd dislike a shadow song so much. Maybe it's a grower.

The best part of that song is the beginning and the chorus.

I love the single. It's one of the best songs he's produced in years.

I like it when artists completely reinvent themselves and pull it off successfully.

It's weird, it's certainly not the Shadow I claim to have as one of my favorite artists, but I still like it.

I certainly can't appreciate it from the perspective of folks who are more in tune with what he's saying, but there's something oddly captivating at work here...like, can't stop my head from bopping, that kind of thing.

it's not bad, and the chorus is definitely catchy. and shadow's got a right to do stupid rap tracks, the first time he was ever on wax was a remix he did for the lifer's group. it's more the sound of it that bothers me. where are the ass kicking dusty drums? where's the interesting rhythm? and whats the point of having a ridiculous record collection if you're just going to bust out the casio?
i'm just bummed to see somebody who recorded some of the greatest sample-based music of the last decade turn to the tired-sounding synths of top 40 rap. especially since there are pop rap producers who do it better (i.e. timbaland)

i usually don't like the southern hip hop stuff but that song is weird enough for me to enjoy.

i can dig on southern hiphop if it's more along the lines of outkast...lil john is just so goddamn inane. i feel like i'm a frat party being given a lobotomy when i listen to that shit.

yeah 'Tell Me When To Go' is awesome, Ghostride da whip time

And Shadow has always been hip hop, just sometimes in disguise. He's always disliked Endtroducing et al being called 'trip hop', as he reckons his work is just an extension of hip hop.

also, keak da sneak has a weird as shit voice

Well said, splates.

Yeah, the track on the website is definitely a grower.

I get the sense that Mr. Shadow wants to make his kind of party record, and I'm all for it. No, it doesn't sound like him, but like KPH, those two tracks are giving me head bopping syndrome.

i agree with all of this. if you're a fan of endtroducing and the shadow who created that, all might be lost for you.

Yeah - I guess that's true...

Then again, Endtroducing came out ten years ago. It's one of those albums that's placed so high on a pedestal that Shadow'll probably never be able to top it in the public mindset, even if he comes out with a better album.

Therefore, why not get involved when your local scene comes up with a new, regional style that's actually fun? Shadow might be gettin' Hyphy (Stupid, Dumb, and Hyphy), and fans might be a bit pissed at his casio sounds, but I bet Shadow's doing all this while feeling reinvigorated, a smile spread wide across his face.
