An accomplished list. I commend ye verily.

Others of note (without having heard them):

Mercury Rev
Low
Out Hud
Soul Coughing live albums (like 6 of 'em)

Has anyone heard anything good by any new bands, like this year's Arcade Fire or Futureheads or TVOTR or whomever?

Any chance you could throw that up on Clever Cactus for us, once you've downloaded it?

Sure thing (it seems to be taking a long time, though) - I'm also currently ripping my favorite albums of 2004.

Feb. 22nd gonna be a gooooooood day.

Josh Rouse (what incarnation is this album gonna take. From the title you gotta think he's going back to folk/country instead of 70's pop)

M.Ward (I'm currently working my way through this one. Sounds like the same timeless songs that could easily be from some unearthed archive from the 1920's)

and

Crooked Fingers - Dignity and Shame (Merge) - (This is a great album. A step forward for the whole band. Songs are all over the place so I can see that being off putting but great nuggets are in there. "Destroyer" has the best guitar solo fade out I've heard in a while and "Dignity and Shame" is a beeyootifull piano and vocal solo from Eric himself.)

The best part, in my view, is that Merge is releasing CF and M. Ward on vinyl. I can't wait for those.

Iron & Wine Woman King. Again, excellent.

The new Archer Prewitt album, Wilderness, is now being shared on Clever Cactus. The one song I've listened to so far ("Cheap Rhyme") was pretty solid.

I'll second that. It's one of about 3 live albums released on an indie label that actually sounds GREAT and is a very good performance. Too many bands release shoddy live recordings, but this isn't bad at all.

Haha

For me in January only:

Fiery Furnaces "EP" (Sanctuary, Jan. 11, 2005)

Trembling Blue Stars "The Seven Autumn Flowers" (with four bonus tracks) (Bar/None, Jan. 11, 2005)

Magnolia Electric Co. "Trials & Errors" (Secretly Canadian, Jan. 18, 2005)

... And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead "Worlds Apart" (Interscope, Jan. 25, 2005)

Lou Barlow "Emoh" (Merge, Jan. 25, 2005)

Tim Booth (former frontman of James) "Bone" (Koch, Jan. 25, 2005)

Bright Eyes "Digital Ash in a Digital Urn" and "I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning" (separate discs) (Saddle Creek, Jan. 25, 2005)

Jimmy Chamberlin Complex (former Smashing Pumpkins/Zwan) "Life Begins Again" (Guests: Bill Medley, Billy Corgan, Billy Mohler, ex-Catherine Wheel frontman Rob Dickinson) (Sanctuary, Jan. 25, 2005)

Chemical Brothers, The "Push the Button" (Freestyle Dust/Astralwerks, Jan. 25, 2005)

Graham Coxon "Happiness in Magazines" (with bonus tracks; released in U.K. in 2004) (Astralwerks, Jan. 25, 2005)

Low "The Destroyer" (Sub Pop, Jan. 25, 2005)

M83 "Before the Dawn Heals Us" (Mute, Jan. 25, 2005)

Stands, The "All Years Leaving" (released in U.K. in 2004) (Echo, Jan. 25, 2005)

Athlete "Tourist" (first single: "Wires") (Astralwerks, Feb. 1, 2005)

Ed Harcourt "Strangers" (released in U.K. in 2004) (Astralwerks, Feb. 1, 2005)

But all of that is pale compaired to Gruff Rhys first solo album sung in Welsh but out in the US on Feb 1st or before as well. He is the lead singer of the best band of the last 10 years Super Furry Animals.

New Matt Elliott, Drinking Songs, probably in February, on ici d'ailleurs. Should be a lot more songs like "the Sinking Ship Song" from The Mess We Made.

I believe the Paper Airplane Pilots are releasing something this year, too.
If they finish it.

yeah, same with those bon savants...

i'm looking forward to releases from:

Andrew Bird
Doves
Night Rally
Clickers
The Information
Sloan
anything from Yo La Tengo (incl. the upcoming retrospective)
Radiohead
The Hold Steady
Malkmus (?)

according to those wacky guys in the Wrens camp, they're still planning to do a re-release of most of their recorded output from 1997, all re-mastered/mixed, and half seeing their first non-cassette release.
