I'd rather the board be DEAD all day than to have to sift through these un-funny wastes of space.

How many parody threads have been, today?

Seriously, now...

I made one, but that's due to me being a jag-off. As to the rest -- I don't even see 'em.

these type of threads are just as unneccesary as parody ones. At least those, can sometimes be witty...Simply don't open them, or start a serious music thread instead.

It's akin to saying we "don't talk about music"

except for the fact that none of the parody threads are funny, yet occassionally, in a music or non-music related thread, someone will post something that produces a chuckle from me.

but its exactly as useless.

a parody thread > = < a thread complaining about parody threads.

equally useless.

solution = start a music thread.

I guess I wouldn't mind them if they showed a little bit of wit. But invariably they're based on nothing more than the elementary school level conceit of "hey, that word sounds like this word". So fuggem.

I must admit, the parody thread has recently become an ugly trend around here. I try to ignore them.

Wow my apologies.
One whole music thread yesterday, followed by a non music thread today....Don't over extend yourself.

They both may be useless, but they're not equally useless. The complaint thread has a subject that may or may not illicit discussion; the parody thread does not.

agreed. the fact that they're rampant right now doesn't help. It's cute every once in awhile. 45 a day is just annoying.

and people are welcome to ignore them and not read them.

but starting a new thread to discuss the hatred of parody threads is as pointless as the parody ones themselves.

There are plenty of topics on here that I dont care about and don't open. Should I start threads discussing my hatred of them?

We go through this every month. This board is not, nor will it ever be 100% music. When we morphed from CMJ to here, it took on a life of its own.

Plenty of music boards out there to visit. Im sure there are plenty that will satiate your need for musical discussion. Nobody is keeping ya hear.

This is what the board is. I like the variety of topics that go on here.

When i wanna talk 80's metal, i have other places i can go to. When i wanna talk wrestling, i have boards i can post on as well.

Just because I don't like parady threads doesn't mean I want to talk about music in very thread that gets posted on this board. In fact I rarely even discuss music on here to be honest.

I don't want to visit other boards. The only reason I visit this one is because some of my friends are here and 80% of the time there's good stuff to talk about.

A parody thread isn't a "topic". And it is also not funny when there are literally 10-15 in a day (see the day after Duke lost). And the difference between starting a thread about the hatred of parody threads is it actually has a point. Parody threads do not. I don't think it's that hard to understand. That's all I'm saying.

This thread is necessary. So is a thread entitled "God I fucking HATE threads that parody parody threads", and so on.

I understand what Busty is trying to say. Parody threads are very irritating and a waste of space. But I can also understand what Dov is saying. Oh well...
