Anybody heard this by chance? After reading the description on Digitalis I am horribly interested. It does however sound like something that could be just as bad as it could be good though.

Here's the description:

Deep inside an abandoned bunker on New Zealand's north island, With Throats as Fine as Needles have perfected their craft. On this, their debut CD release, the group has expanded to a quartet. Birchville Cat Motel's Campell Kneale and Pseudoarcana chief, Antony Milton, have joined forces with James Kirk (Sandoz Lab Technicians, Gate) and Richard Francis (Eso Steel) to create a claustrophobic, organic web of massive drones.

Everything on this CD was recorded outdoors with battery-powered instruments. Underneath the ground, the quartet burrows out their own cavern, bouncing sounds off the walls until it becomes a singular, solid mass. Each gently sculpted tone floats in humid air. The music is saturated with the dirt and grime from a million a years of human history, wailing out in unison like an excavation turned exorcism. With Throats as Fine as Needles are your guides through this aural fog.

Apparently this was the place where it was recorded:

Just wondering whether or not it was worth picking up.

Could be cool. Could be dreadful, judging by the place and the look of them.

Are we talking Sunn O)))-type squalling drones or Eno/Deep Listening Band-type mellodrones?

Either way, I'm intrigued.

I agree part of the description is certainly overblown, but still battery powered drone, recorded outdoors, by anyone associated with Birchville had me stoked. Will get those out to y'all hopefully tomorrow.

I definitely will need to hear this, even if you can't really exorcise an excavation. You can exorcise the spirits which eminate from the excavation, but the excavation itself is just dirt.

i feel pretty much the same exact way. same ridiculous pretentious (that can't be how you spell that) sentence caught my eye as well. but in the same way, i wouldn't mind hearing it, if only to dismiss it condescendingly. so, ysiplzthx

Searched around for a bit and only found a live call-in performance to a Providence college station. But it was over the phone, which makes the drone not so prone to good.

CD's only 10 bucks on a few sites, so I'll probably get it.
