So.....Whatdya do?

had dinner with a few friends at ACME Underground. Seafood Ravioli's, Corn bread, garlic mash potato's, and sam adams light. My last carb blow out of 2004.

Then back to my place, for more festivitites. Shrimp platter, cheese and pepperoni platter, and more beers. Watch the bonus features on the Napoleon Dynamite DVD.

Bout 11:15pm, headed down to the Lower East Side and went to Luna Lounge to ring in the new Years. It was crowded but fun.

Almost got into a fight with theis drunk tal nerd, pushing his way thru the crowd. Calmer heads prevailed, but the alcohol and adreniniline in my system almost did something stupid.

Left there round 2:45, to head back to my place, for one last round of beers. Guests left round 3:30.

I awoke at 11am today, and have pretty much lied on my couch since....

Will continue to do so, till round 5. Then meeting my dad for sushi, and then off to the Knicks vs Nets game at Madison Square Garden.

Tommoorw, over to Lincoln Square Movie Theater to see an advance screening of 'In Good Company' to start my 2005 off right by having Scarlett Johanson take up a part of every single day of ym year.

you?

Just me and one friend at her house. I think we talked a lot, the television was on, but I'm not sure what was playing. Beer, rum and cokes (for you Jen), nachos. Was tipsy when my friend went to bed. I almost called a guy I haven't talked with in eight months. Didn't. Yay me. Listened to music. Had trouble sleeping because the living room was really, really hot.

My edit to this would be to classify the "lots of talking" as the inane, wasn't-there-a-Beauty-and-the-Beast-television-show? kind.

drank here. Drank lots.

Had champagne at midnight then found out my little brother had people over (he lives two floors above us) and we went up there.

Drank more.

Played this interactive video game thing where it's like you're skating or something. You stand up and move around and you are the person onscreen. it's cool and I fell down a lot.

Came home and the rest is a blur.Though according to Josh I fell off the bed once and also almost tripped going down the stairs.

But I JUST woke up and I'm dizzy and drinking water.

Not. Drinking. For. two.weeks.

My original plans were to do nothing. Frankly, I was okay with that what with working so hard and long hours lately, I was looking forward to just relaxing at home. My coworker, Bobby, learned of my 'no plans' evening and quickly intervened, bought me a ticket to see Autolux / 400 Blows and hang out with him and his band. "We're gonna have a great time, Tania, it'll be fun!"

Yesterday, we confirmed our plans to meet at the club. I get to the club, waited around for about 1.5 hours 'til he finally showed in tow with one of his bandmates. I was given a hug and then he said that he "had to hang out with his friend"...okay. Off he went, I saw him only once the rest of the evening, when he found me near the stage --- "Oh, I've been looking for you. Just thought I'd check on you, see ya!" That's when I started thinking that I should've stayed at home. I mean, if I wanted to hang out by myself, I would've never made plans to go out.

At least the bands were great. It was just another gig night, nothing New Year's Eve specialness to it...except for the toast at midnight. I'll tell ya this, I'll never make plans with him again.

Got to sleep in today. My one and only day off this week. Back to work tomorrow. Yes, I know, tomorrow is Sunday. :(

New Years Eve is one of my least favourite days of the year. I don't have a problem with people who get drunk, but people usually take it to the extreme on NYE and become stupid.

I would've stayed home, but a friend's band was doing a live rendition of Purple Rain. There was no way I was going to miss that, and I wasn't disappointed. It was a riot!

Ditto me. I got fucking obliterated last night and here I am drinking wine again, albeit slowly and cautiously.

At lunch, I went and bought two (top quality) filet mignons and a couple of bottles of Chilean wine. I went home and marinated the filets and made sure I had everything else I needed to cook for the evening.

Di came home around 6, so, I put some wood in the chiminea (fire pit), and started the grill.

We showered and dressed (rather properly) and then went outside for some wine and appetizers from the grill while enjoying some jazz and the lights from the chiminea.

Potato(e)s cooking, salad made, wine, candles, and finally, the filets on the grill. Listened to a lot of older favorite latin/cuban/african music and ate, drank, and then watched our neighbors send up some fireworks.

Finally, at 10:50 (Texas time) we put it on Telemundo (no, I don't speak that much Espanol) and watched the ball drop in NYC.

Wine and meat drunk at 11:30, it was time for us to retire. . .

And that was all of that.

Let's see, if I can remember. I'm in Vancouver BC right now and this NYE was one of the best ones I've ever had.

Started out the day by eating at some sushi joint in North Van, then my friend who's been showing us around took us up to Cap Canyon (I think that's what it was called?), which was beautiful.

Later that night we went to Anza, some club in Downtown Vancouver, but it was a blast. The music was house, breaks, and electro, since all the kids we know here are into beats- but the party was a great time. Met a lot of cool people, drank A LOT... but best part was that I didn't pass out, didn't fall and hurt myself (I have a tendency to fall a lot because I'm such a klutz) and ate at some really good veggie joint after.

Ummm, I forget what else, but I'm kindda drunk right now and probably not making any sense. But I heart Vanoucver and never wnat to go back to LA!

Went out to dinner with my wife, kids, and inlaws.
In bed by 9:30.
I'm lame.

Had a cabin in the mountains and we got there in the early afternoon and started drinking. Then it was off to the hottub for more drinking.

Dinner at a local brewery/restaraunt and then back to the cabin for bubbly, beer, games and listening to tunes. I don't think we even turned on the TV.

Me and Mrs. FT watched Mona Lisa Smile, because she's a big Julia Roberts fan, and I'm a big Mrs. FT fan.

i actually had a pretty good time, which was as much a surprise to me as anything else that went on.

we went to a party in JP at the house of my friends Rian and Mary, skipping out on a few pre-pre-party cocktail episodes elsewhere in said outpost of Boston. i did my best to knock off a 6 pack of Stella (total success), a few shots of JD, and some cups of champagne. best part of the night was probably dancing to most of the first half of London Calling, having a good back-and-forth during Rudy, while actual "indie kids" looked on in horror and embarassment as we elder hipsters fell all over each other. note to indie kids: stop taking yourselves as seriously as your fashion templates! it's boring!

as that party began falling apart, about 15 of us posse'd on over to the "bad side" of town, which was eerily close to an apartment that i lived in back in the 90s. this party was also in decline, though it had an interesting mix of jock guys/gals, hardcore lesbians, serious indie kids, hippies, and our gang. snowball fights, cuddling with puppies, and endless staircases are the images that come to mind.

noteworthy exchange on the way over: my friend Sean and i made a flippant, though entirely joking comment about some serious indie kid's North Face parka and he absolutely went off on me. as i jokingly threatened to break a beer bottle over his head if he didn't stop being so defensive and hostile, he then intimated that i was somehow being insecure about the whole thing. this could very well be the moment that i point to as "when i started feeling older." i mean, 2 guys are making fun of you in a playful manner for no real reason and your best retort is: "you're insecure you meanie!" ???? 'twas a sad state of affairs folks...

all in all, a very fun NY's, replete with new friendships, a better perspective on JP, and a nice brunch at Doyle's, featuring *the* cutest waitstaff in all of Boston. we also overheard a 12 year-old girl talking with her Dad about play action fakes, running out the clock, and other intricacies of any potential Pats-Colts game in the playoffs. we welcome this development.

well, you did make fun of his clothing/demeanor and then threaten him with violence when he called you on it. i'd say that that reeks of insecurity, old man.

are you for real? it'd be like one of us (in person) making fun of each other's taste in music and then out of nowhere getting a violent, confrontational reaction. it really was that far out of left field given the context and spirit of the evening and specific conversation. the beer bottle thing was entirely in keeping with the joking attitude, but the kid just was hellbent on starting trouble, whereas i remember feeling awfully calm, poised, and collected, trying to get him to chill out (which he eventually did). i've felt plenty insecure at other times and believe me dude, this was not one of them. i felt bad that the kid took it so personally, but i also thought he could use a thicker skin.

oh, i didn't see that it was someone that you knew. it read like you were walking to the bad side of town, made fun of a random " indie", whatever the hell that means, kid on the way, and then was surprised when he wasn't happy about that.

Started drinking raspberry vodka & cranberry/grape at home.
Took the quickest shower ever, for me at least.
Mixed about 1/8 parts vodka and the rest cranberry/grape in a bottle and left.
Picked up our friend Rebecca who just happened to have a bottle of vodka with her *SCORE!* which she then dumped about 2 quarts into my bottle. It tasted like cranberry flavored rubbing alcohol. I drank most of it anyways.
Went to see Road To Ruin (a Ramones cover band), Lost City Angels, Jerry's Kids and Darkbuster at a club. Got really drunk and was in the pit for a few of Darkbuster's songs. Note to self: don't get drunk at punk shows.
There were like 2 fights at the club and my friend Troy took a shot to the eye but I miraculously escaped any injury or embarrassment.
I don't remember much of anything past this point other than I jumped into a snowpile after leaving the club and we went to a pretty lame party in Central Square. Then I came home and passed out in my bed.

ha - sorry to misrepresent. no, this kid was part of the posse and a friend of my friend sean. he was making fun of somebody else's shoes for being too whatever, and we - seriously - gently made fun of his north face parka and whammo.

and if i wanted a quick and painful end to my life, i'd go and make fun of somebody from roxbury on a darkened street late at night. :)

The following took place from Dec. 31, 2004 to Jan. 01, 2004.

Drugs, booze, a little dancin. Normal night on the town, but more dressed up, and not in Nashville.
Had a great time, but my brain was fried the next day. Tried to go to sleep at around 6:30 am, but was unsuccessful. Pissed in friend's sink, tried to go back to sleep, unsuccessful again. Tossed and turned while dreading the drive back to Nashville. Got about 2 hours of sleep and went to a friend's house and watched 2.5 quarters of UGA vs. Wisconsin game (Go DAWGS!!!).
Drove back to Nashville and nearly dosed off 20 times on the drive back. Got back and took a 3.5 hour nap and then had a little dinner with my girlfriend then watched Wet Hot American Summer.
