I have the box set but never listen to it.

I like Luna so much more.

and to answer your question, yeah the Cure are the perfect band for rainfall...

Splates is correct but BeeOK is not too far off the mark with his Cure response.

Everything that was in the box set is now available on the CD versions of the albums and the rarities collection, so you're not missing too much (my brother has a copy of the box).

I've been meaning to check them out for ages.

Since they're on emusic, which album is best?

"On Fire" is my personal favorite, but I enjoy them all almost equally.

There's a great doc/vid collection/etc DVD out on plexifilm DVD you should check out Telescope if you haven't thus far.

I heard about it, but I'm not sure if it's been released as region 4, since most lesser-known indie bands don't seem to, and my only dvd-viewing option at the moment is my computer that's locked on region 4.

Will keep an eye out for it though

American Analog Set is the greatest rainy-day band going.

hmm another band that I havent paid enough attention to, all I have is 'The Portable Galaxie 500' - but I dont know, the raintime ascetic though can be found with a good dose of Belle and Sebastian I suppose.. and others, although Im too lazy to lay in bed and imagine it is raining and then thumb through the CDs (which, btw, are all downstairs, and would thereby be almost impossible).

Red House Painters works better.

But I should say that any time is a good time for Galaxie 500.

I have some real clear memories of listening to them on a late summer evening in the car, windows down, sun setting, warm air blowing all around, the stereo cranked, middle of nowhere.

the only albums i've heard were this is our music and the peel sessions album that recently came out. i need to pick up the other 2 because i really dig them.

but as for a rainy day, i'm a trip-hop/downtempo type of girl.

Re: the Cure. Different kind of rain. I love G500.

I got On Fire when I was a kid and it was totally mysterious and ethereal to me. I had no idea who they were.
