thankfully i have band practice tonight, and it's not my band so i'm not the lead singer.

to make it better, he leaves today for a week vacation so i won't even get to really talk with him until late sunday night, if then.

I'm dealing with a breakup that happened some months ago, and the pain is just as great now. I guess you just file it away at some point, but I don't think I have yet.

yep. i can't count the number of times i've said, "my heart will never stop aching.", or something equally dramatic and then always recovered. it's not quick or easy, but it does happen. love is the suck*.

of course breakups suck. they're fucking terrible and they bring out the ABSOLUTE WORST in people while they're wallowing in misery and self-loathing and trying to figure out what or where it went wrong, blah blah blah but it does get better, or at least grows stale and you stop thinking about it with every second and you learn how to breathe deep and start growing again. Heartbreak never heals, but it scabs over enough that you can take the goddamn bandage off, you know? There's nothing that anyone can say to make this process move faster, it's entirely something that happens in its own time. After a while you're capable of thinking of the relationship without that bitter aftertaste and remember the good parts. a little while longer youy're capable of seeing that person without having your heart feel like it's trying to pop out of your chest cavity like a baby alien. Sometimes things can work out to be friends even, a lot of times no.

The most important part of going through a breakup (and I can say this with the removed calm of someone who hasn't recently, but has been utterly devastated more than once) is that it's merely the low point in the entire cycle. If you feel as shitty and hopeless and depressed as you once felt exhilarated, invincible and smitten as you did at the peak of the relationship, then the whole thing was well worth it.

I know this means fuck all to you, but it's still my shitty way of saying it was better to have loved and lost...
