I picked up Built to Spill and Field Music on my lunch break. I think they both came out today.

I thought maybe "Tell Me" was some hot new band I should know about.

Damn, I didn't know the Built to Spill came out today. I guess I'll be making a purchase tomorrow.

I thought the Streets came out today, only to find out this morning that it doesn't come out for another two weeks. Goddammit.

I thought it came out today too. Pitchfork didn't like it too much. Has anyone heard this? I love me some Streets.

Others no one has mentioned yet:

The Beatles: Capitol Albums Vol. 2
Eno/Byrne: My Life in the Bush of Ghosts (remastered with 6 previously unreleased songs, new artwork, etc.)

Pitchfork panned Built to Spill. This means I will love it.
I'm going to get it on Friday, I think.

Ooooo, this is tempting. If it's not too expensive, I might get it.

I thought I saw some of the Cluster/Eno reissues recently, but now I can't find them anywhere...

Yeah, it's good, but not as good as the first one. Still, it also isn't a huge drop-off, either. Like from an A- to a B.

np: ELO- "10538 Overture"

That's weird, I picked up The Streets today. I haven't played it yet, however.

yeah, oddly enough not a whole lot of marketing blitz that I've seen for this.

Yeah, they had a bit of marketing in the store I was in, but the better deal was the slashing of all other Beatles cds. I picked up Abbey Road for $9.

I still haven't gotten the first one yet.

Now it's time for me to think of something to celebrate to justify some purchases...

...and the track "Qu'ran" deleted because recordings of the Quran are supposedly sacrilegious. That's evidently not a reaction to the whole bat-shit-insane cartoon thing; I think Eno/Byrne wanted to remove that track years ago.

So I guess I'll be keeping my original CD, even though I will buy the new one.

Interesting. I didn't know that. I guess it's a good thing I didn't use it as trade yet then. Damn, I hate needing to keep original copies of albums. Did the same thing with the Flaming Lips' Soft Bulletin when it came out with the surround DVD. The audio disc is the "original" tracklisting, remastered, with some songs in different mixes than the US version was. Annoying.

Quotin' and bumpin' because just picked this up a bit ago. Packaging is luscious - glossy O card with new cover artwork, big thick glossy booklet with essays and lots of new artwork. The sound is equally gorgeous - it sounds like a new album, where the original was hazy and muddy. Amazing remaster.

Hey, Lump, do you have the original original CD? I just realized that "Qu'ran" isn't on my original CD, so if you have it, you have the very hard to find one with that track. Keep that thing - or sell it on Ebay - but definitely don't ever just trade it in!

And, hey . . . can ya YSI it for a curious fan? Never heard it. (And if you can YSI the wav file instead of an mp3, that would be superawesome.)
