Was it the 4 year 50 million dollar deal they talked about a week or so back??

if so, i think the red sox made a great move. hard to imagine Ortiz couldnt command more $$ on the open market...my detractors say that with his age, and being pretty much a DH for life, that was the best deal he could probably expect...

i dunno....Mr Steinbrenner has always loved him.....now he can stick it in our ass for the next 5 years...sigh.

David gotta be the flyest giant-head guy on the planet. Sitting in that press conference with his slick little French driving hat and 10-grand suit. Jimmy Rice is proud.

On the kind of bad news front, Coco Crisp fractured his index finger but he's only supposed to be out like 10 days.

His replacement, Adam Stern, has been filling in for him quite well.

Stern is developing nicely...think he will be up and down all season, get plenty of ABs overall, and develop into a nice player in the future for the Sox.

Now Trot is out for a week, so we get to see some more of Wily Mo, who has struggled so far. The kid is so raw, but he needs the ABs to develop

Even in that pose, it kinda looks like he's chewing on something...

like a cornish game hen, or a summer squash...

Great clutch hitter....Amazing batter in general... and, when he plays first he covers a lot of ground - just not with his glove.

I can't wait to go to the game on Sunday. I think Beckett is starting.

hmmm... trot hurts groin, or hurt groin plagues trot?

The wry humor possibilities are endless here, people...
