This sounds like a nice set. Hopefully the other albums will follow with this treatment.

The Jam Expand All Mod Cons

The Jam combined '60s rock influences from The Who and The Kinks with the energy and brash attitude of their punk contemporaries to become one of the most successful bands of the late '70s in the U.K.

All Mod Cons, the group's third (and, some say, best) album, originally peaked at #6 on the British sales chart upon its release in 1978. A new two-disc version with 14 bonus tracks and a DVD will be released by Universal on June 6. The extra songs are made up of b-sides, alternate takes and unreleased demos, while the second disc is a 40-minute DVD directed by Don Letts that chronicles the making of All Mod Cons and features new interviews, live footage and promo clips.

The music of singer/guitarist Paul Weller, bassist Bruce Foxton and drummer Rick Buckler was so British that it never made a commercial impact in North America, but the group remain influential 24 years after their break-up and modfather Weller is generally acknowledged as one of the great songwriters of his generation.

Here's the track list for the new-look All Mod Cons:
# "All Mod Cons"
# "To Be Someone (Didn't We Have A Nice Time)"
# "Mr. Clean"
# "David Watts"
# "English Rose"
# "In The Crowd"
# "Billy Hunt"
# "It's Too Bad"
# "Fly"
# "The Place I Love"
# "'A' Bomb In Wardour Street"
# "Down In The Tube Station At Midnight"

Bonus Material:
# "News Of The World" (single)
# "Aunties And Uncles (Impulsive Youths)" (b-side)
# "Innocent Man" (b-side)
# "Down In The Tube Station At Midnight" (single version)
# "So Sad About Us" (b-side)
# "The Night" (b-side)
# "So Sad About Us" (demo)
# "Worlds Apart" (demo)
# "It's Too Bad" (demo)
# "To Be Someone" (demo)
# "David Watts" (demo)
# "Billy Hunt" (alternate version)
# "Mr. Clean" (demo)
# "Fly" (demo)

All Mod Cons is definitely their best album. That being said, there's not a bad album in their canon.

I especially love the title track and "It's Too Bad"

I think that All Mod Cons is their best too, I can't think of a better closing couple of tracks on any album than "'A' Bomb in Wardour Street" and "Down in the Tube Station at Midnight", Powerful!. I might even pick this up, for the DVD and since I only have it on vinyl.

Demo versions of songs already on the album, I don't need.
And most of the rest of the bonus material was already released on the Extras! collection.

That said, I still would like to hear this with cleaned-up sound.

Wish I could just grab the demos. The stuff that showed up on Extras is great, and I'm dying to hear a stripped down raw version of "To Be Someone" and "Mr. Clean". This is the Jam album that made my Listmania.

And Todd, you're wrong. None of the bonus material was on Extras.

Actually, I think "So Sad About Us" was on Extras, but I'm not sure which version.

Anyway, I knew there was a reason why I still hadn't picked up All Mod Cons. This should be great.

I think you're right, but it's a b-side, so not really "bonus" (i.e. I didn't already own it) in my book.

Question: is June 6 the UK release date? Because I haven't been able to locate this here in Portland. If so, does anyone know what the US release date is?
