I know you aren't advocating this stance, but the "Open Borders is an Invitation to Terrorists" line is bullshit. I don't see anyone in a hurry to build a wall along the northern border, which last I remember was the longest unprotected border in the world. If you can sneak across through the Southwestern US, I really doubt the motion lights are gonna wake up the neighbors in Montana or North Dakota.

the question is what is congress actually going to do? it appears that, like always, they'll probably come up with a bullshit plan and this will just be tossed around in the election cycles, but without a real plan to start to fix this mess.

I know. But the people who believe Bush keeps america safer from terrorism are the same who believe open borders (specially ones where brown people can sneak over) are a national threat. Makes me ill.

From my own experience, the anti-immigrant/open borders stance has been pretty party neutral. People, not politicians, mind you.

I guess that people just don't know what to make of it. Understandably.
