You may have $$ coming ($25 check plus $20 to use on the Epson site).

I've got one as well, easily one of the worst purchases I've ever made. It's the type of device that makes you get all Office Space in a 'DIE motherfucker' kind of way.

My Epson's been great, and it prints really nicely.

Quite the bargain, considering it cost what 3 of the B&W carts cost. :x

i just got my second Epson after my other one broke.
i was going to go with another brand but Epson was the only one in my price range that took four colors (which is essential for me)

and hell, i got a 3-in-1 for $99 and it prints pretty well.

Ours is good so far, but how hard is it to function for a week? I also hear their ink heads clog if you don't use them often enough.

mine do all the time, and i cant clean the black cartridge because the rest of the coloured cartridges are close to empty, meaning the only way i can use it is to drop some serious money replacing all the colour cartridges. its the last epson printer ill ever buy.

I've heard all the "doors" must be closed when not using the printers. You know, the flaps where the paper rests, and other (if any) orifices.

Maybe this helps keeping it unclogged, I dunno. Supposedly.

i read on some site that you should make sure to turn it off every night because the shutting down and starting up process cleans it or something. And like someone else said, you should print a full color image at least once a week to keep the printer engaged.

I liked my Epson all-in-one except that it seemed to use cartridges too fast which is mainly just because they are so damn small.

Oh, and it flat out died about a month after the one year warranty expired.

Now I'm back to an HP: The cartridges last a lot longer and its actually a nicer machine. My only problem with HP's has always been that they will occasionally grab two sheets of paper (usually when I am printing 3 section paychecks that are numbered :x ) and jam.

The fax is aces on it though, and since I am one of the only people who actually still faxes stuff, I appreciate it.

I had an Epson. Once. Nice prints, but seriously crappy printer.

Like others have noted, if you don't print a lot, the heads clog and you can't print anymore. I don't print a lot, so the $60 (after sale and rebates) price of the C84 I bought seemed like a deal. I printed a few things, the results were nice, then I didn't use it for quite a while. Sure enough, the heads got clogged, but not until after I'd used up the piddling starter inks the printer comes with, of course. Basically doubled the price of that printer with that new ink when it decided not to allow more than a few lines of that new ink onto the paper. Went out and bought an HP that afternoon and haven't had a single problem with it since - and I still print as infrequently.

I'm not going to baby a freakin' printer like you have to with Epsons. I want to hit "print" and out comes a print, that is all. I'm not breaking out the q-tips and rubbing alcohol every time I want to print, plain and simple.
