Good one. If the next Hold Steady album is free of references to Ybor City and Penetration Park, he will ascend to my Top 10.

np: Thin Lizzy - "The Rocker"

I have NO IDEA who the following people are:
David Bazan
8. Hoyt Axton
7. Miles Kurosky
1. Chuck Cleaver

richey edwards
nicky wire

9. Luke Haines

Spencer Moody
Rick Froberg
John K Samson
Todd Congelliere
Chris Besinger

1) Richard W. Palmer-James
2) Peter Sinfield

Willie Vlautin

David Olney
Rennie Sparks

8.John McCrea

blake schwarzenbach

But I would figure this list would start and end with Dylan and Hank Williams, Sr, and have dudes like Kristofferson, Neil Young, and O'Shea Jackson in the middle somewhere.

Which is to say I know the name...don't necessarily think I would know who they were if I walked in someplace with them on the stereo.

You'd think with that PHD in poetry that his band would let him write a lyric now and then instead of relying so thoroughly on Neil Peart.

I knew I was forgetting someone big. He'd round out my list.

Luke Haines made my list and shiv got the details right. I'm guessing you'd find him to be a pompous english twit and can safely ignore him as not being your thing. Then again, I'd never guess that you'd like B&S as much as you do so who knows.

Ha! That IS the bad answer- I had even forgotten about that. Axton had a well-deserved reputation that caused major metropolitan police forces to staff up when they heard he was coming to town.
