This guy buys up huge chunks of TV time every night. He's sort of become a local legend over the years.

Why is it always furniture stores that make crappy yet entertaining commercials.

I think every kid in the New Orleans area remembers these two furniture store commercial classics.

"You have to see the special man, let her have it." and "Rosenberg, Rosenberg, Sixteen Twenty Five Tulane"

It's no different now - people trying to outdo ! each other in extremes. There are people who like X, and there are people who say X are wimps; they like Black Flag.

The furniture guys out here actually did something creditable this year--for April fools, they hit the local airwaves with a "Breaking News" story in which they purchased naming rights to Wrigley Field.

no local commercials are as annoying as the ones in central new york for the Fucillo auto mall. this big rich guy sells cars cheaply and all the sales are HUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE

each commercial they find a new way to say HUUUUUUUGE.

i'll try to find something online

Hey Dana and RParis(or other PDXers).....is Tom Peterson still alive and kicking?? Haven't seen any ads by him the last few times I've been down there.
For you non-Portlanders this guy has been around for YEARS - he's always giving stuff away with furniture purchases - one of his slogans used to be "Free is a VERY good price".
One item he gave away was an alarm clock with his pic on it:

He used to do a commercial promoting that in the middle of the night(when they used to play Portland Wrestling)where he would rap his knuckles on the camera and say "Wake up - Wake up to a happy day" or something like that - it was a little disorienting if you were 1/2 asleep in front of the TV.

I wonder when Naked and juice will chime in on Houston's legendary "Mattress Mac"...."Gallery Furniture will SAVE. YOU. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMONEY!"

np: Led Zep - "Theme from Katrina"
