Holidays, in the U.S., have become nothing more than a reason to go and get wasted. If you ask me, it's a pointless thing to look forward to. I know too many people that are just counting the minutes until friday night so they can rack up a $50 tab--which is probably conservative even for some Obners.

right on. or "it's thanksgiving lets stuff ourselves full of gravy and pie." this "holiday" is really silly, but no sillier than most holidays. not to mention that it provides a much-needed boost for america's ailing pizza delivery industry.

I celebrated this morning. I'll be sober long before class, and it was an excuse to take a morning off and just relax. It is a silly "holiday," but who gives a shit really?

No it really is. It is ranked 9th in the nation for prevalence of drugs by campusdirt.com. I don't know how accurate that is but app is well known for drugs. I even know these two hippies from South Carolina who came here just for the drugs.

This is the inconsistency I don't get. From a social safety context there is plenty of evidence that pot smokers are WAY more docile and less prone to killing innocent people on the highway then the aforementioned beer guzzlers.

My original post was to imply this. Not in support of potheads or 420, but to sort of combine the two and try to get help understanding why any overindulgence on a regular basis of these things is interesting or sought after.

EDIT: And why is it that these same people, when I tell them that I don't drink or smoke weed, tell me or sort of shout out to the other's around something to the effect of, "oh, this guy don't know how to have fun"? Why is not being sober comparable and the equivalent of fun? It infuriates me. Yeah guys, you're right. I can't have a good time(enjoy a comedy, go to a play, listen to music, have sex with my spouse, play sports, etc) unless I am intoxicated in some way. Fun = Under the influence
