Two bands out, wonder who'll they get to replace 'em:

Quote:
HARD Fi - bye bye
Necessary/Atlantic recording group Hard-Fi has been forced to cancel some upcoming dates in North America due to a throat infection being suffered by lead singer Richard Archer. He is currently under a doctor's care, and the band is expected to resume their worldwide tour schedule shortly.

"I am deeply frustrated by the problem I'm having with my throat."
says Richard. "We were so looking forward to hitting the States
again at the end of the month, and especially looking forward to
playing the Coachella festival, but unfortunately it's just not
possible at this time. We'll be back in June and plan to make up for it." The cancelled shows are: 22 Vancouver, BC Plaza Club;
24 Seattle, WA Chop Suey; 25 Portland, OR Berbati's Pan; 27 Sacramento, CA The Boardwalk; 28 San Francisco, CA Slim's; 29 Indio, CA Coachella Music & Arts Festival

The Subways - cancel
Unfortunately The Subways have been advised to cancel their forthcoming tour of North America due to the fact that Billy Lunn, their lead singer, has Nodules on his vocal chords. It is hoped that with continued treatment he will completely recover but the band are facing a minimum of a 6 week lay off from any touring.

The band are incredibly saddened by this news but remain positive and look forward to returning to America later in the summer.

Typically...yeah. But, it's a week before the event, it'll be interesting who they can get to fill in.

don't get me wrong, they were a pick of mine to see, but i'm not that upset.

if say, sigur ros, franz, bloc party, MMJ, or daft punk cancelled, i'd be slightly annoyed.

i'd be goddamn PISSED if daft punk or massive attack gets cancelled.

you don't even want to know what i would do. the goldenvoice office is 2 floors above me at work, i will wreck havoc.

usually they don't get replacements.

Cannot believe that this is next weekend. Incredible.

I put a big ol' iTunes mix together of all the Coachella bands and will be pre-gaming that for the next few days.

Shame about The Subways - saw them last month, and they're good live - lots of youthful energy and hair shaking.

here's a couple of tips for the peeps who haven't been to coachella before & are staying at indian palms:

1. the hotel is about 1 mile away from the venue. seriously, it's easier to walk to coachella.... the parking lot on sat night is always a bitch and a half to get out of and the cops end up shutting down half of monroe st. so it's hard to get back into the hotel after.

2. because of above, be sure to stock up on booze before so you don't have to worry about a booze run after the show on sat. it will be a pain in the ass to get to/from the hotel after the show.

3. there's a restaurant at the hotel that has a buffet for breakfast and they also sell breakfast burritos outside. so just an fyi...

4. when you guys get to coachella, i suggest you get your wristband for booze first. that way you don't have to worry about it later nor spend half your afternoon or night waiting in line for them to check your id and give you a wristband. (there's a separate booth outside of each beer garden that checks id and distributes wristbands).

8 MORE DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, if anyone missed the Filter RSVP for Friday...

http://www.filter-mag.com/fitmusic/invi ... hella.html

We can party at Indian Palms, or at Filter, but Filter has free booze, so, y'know.

Btw, if you take cigarettes, make certain they're unopened packs, otherwise, they might not let you bring 'em in.

What if it's a wedding, not an outdoors rock spectacle?

Then, we're thankful we're not going to any Greek weddings that weekend.

5 MORE DAYS!~

dude... i don't know why people are throwing parties DURING coachella. just got another invite to a stones throw mansion party but uh, it goes from noon - 6pm on both sat & sun. i'm not going to the anthem party i mentioned above, just the filter one the day before.

in any case, my liver is preparing itself to be destroyed.

:rawk:

bump

hey, I asked the question in the other thread: what are you guys wearing to the Filter party? I should be fine in jeans and a funky top, right? Also, anybody gotten confirmation on where the buses are picking up people for the party? I haven't received anything yet.

Another fashion question: would I be an idiot to wear flip flops to the actual festival? Am I going to get my toes crushed as a result?

also, tthorn... do you mind if we stop on the way to the hotel to pick up some liquor? My friend and I don't really want to bring any on the plane, esp. since you can get it cheaper in CA anyway.
