that's strange. my wife has had 2 BMW 325i's, and she's had zero problems with both. i've had a Jetta for going on 5 years, and it's been smooth sailing. only just now [110,050 miles] there's an electrical glitch on one of the engine sensors. it runs fine, but i've gotta get it fixed so the light goes off.
A friend tried to buy an alternator from the athens, ga, vw dealership, and they asked him for $700. Not installed, mind you, just for the part.
