I was just watching a few videos (50 Cent, Kanye, M.I.A., among others) on MTV and i learned that the following words are now all censored:

Gun
Poison
Kill
Fire

I mean seriously, what the fuck?

I heard that one Black Eyed Peas song on the radio the other day, "Don't Funk With My Heart" or whatever the title is. And they were censoring FUNK.

Yet they don't censor Renegades of Funk by RATM. All I ask for is a little consistancy in your bullshit, people!

Also in the song "Sole Survivor" by Young Jeezy feat. Akon they censor the word law as in "disobeyin' the law."

Some of this has to be the artist/label self-censoring, to seem edgier and more dangerous.... Just like in the rap videos of yore, where I doubt that everyone featured was wearing inappropriate tee-shirts.

The context of the word "funk" seems to be the problem there. Perhaps someone got miffed with using funk as a verb.

They censor references to drugs and violence, in a vain attempt to shelter our massively unsheltered youth.

Much like the re-naming of the Washington Bullets.
