The new Taking Back Sunday album is pretty damn good. These fuckers bring the rock on a few of these tunes, and there's some great harmonies.

I saw a tease of the video for the first single from this disc, in watching a "Date my mom" marathon on MTV late-nite this weekend, and for 3/4 of the tease, I thought the song was a new one from Hives. The band-members looked like that Swede spazz-boys, and the music was even reminiscent of same.

Consequently, I can say I hate the Hives, Taking Back Sunday, and nouveau neo-emo.

Hell, give me Sunny Day Real Estate over that shee', any day.

Taking Back Sunday isn't that bad of a band. I have their second cd, which I hated at first but warmed up to after a while. Their song a decade under the infulence is a great song by the way.

Oklahoma has lots of good exports.. including regular asskickings to Texas, last year with the freak not applicable.

As for the AA Rejects, I'll claim them, but I can't help but be cynical enough to realize that if they were a bunch of ugly guys, the music wouldn't matter and they would still be playing for 20 people in a Stillwater bar and dodging hick bullshit.

BTW, I saw the first show on the new Starlight Mints tour when they were testing out the brass and string section at the Cain's... and it was great...

But if you're hoping that the Mint's cross over and get some play, it's not going to happen IMO. Worst enemy to his own success.
