As long as Coke Blak is not as bad as Hanson's Cream Soda or Crystal Pepsi, I still want to try it.

Coke Blak will be the new Pepsi AM.

what the heck is pepsi AM?
did i miss this one?

From the late 70s or early 80s, Pepsi began marketing a 'Breakfast Soda' with about 30% more caffeine and less carbonation. It didn't take.

Root beer and ginger ale.

I haven't had soda for a while though, because I never developed a taste for the diet ones.

I have no idea what it's supposed to taste like (cherry? strawberry? red?), but it's awesome.

It's funny your name is Red. Mountain Dew Red is a direct marketing effort to African Americans who for many decades have made a spicey red punch a regular part of picnics, family dinners etc.

White people (OK, ME) drink red Kool-Aid mixed with Sprite to, mang.

On "Inside the Actors Studio", Dave Chappelle talks about black kids hitting the "purple drink" or "red drink" instead of name brand juices and sodas. (It's obviously much funnier when he tells the story.)

I'm definitely one of the whitest girls around, but I'm down with the AfAm food and drink choices. I love me some greens, okra and grits.

Huh. My dad always called kool-aid "bug juice." I had forgotten that.

You know, I was actually going to mention something about my AfAm choices being the same as southern cooking. I held back when I realized that I've only eaten the foods listed at the homes of black folks with parents/grandparents from the south. When I've visited the south, I've pretty much only eaten chicken and pizza. Go figure.

Its not just you. I listen to this sports talk show hosted by two black guys from rural South Carolina and one of them makes this mistake constantly.

Example: One time he basically said that black folks eat sweet potatoes (or sweet potato soufle) for Thanksgiving and white folks eat Yams...

<---never eaten a Yam and has sweet potato soufle (and okra and collards) at Thanksgiving

a Yam is Louisiana Sweet Potato. That's the only difference. The term was created by Louisiana Sweet Potato farmers to "market" their potatoes to the nation.

i thought my wife was the only person in the world who liked orange soda until I went to christmas as her grandma's house. turns out I was wrong. no wine but 6 varities of soda and 9 varities of pig products. its just a country thing.

Southern country cooking is obviously influnced heavily by black people. Slaves did all the cooking when they got here.

We didn't drink any alcohol at family gatherings, either. Not even wine. I think both my grandparents had an alcoholic somewhere back in the family, and decided that was that.

Imagine my surprise when I go *anywhere else* and see the booze come out hardcore at family gatherings. Had no idea such things even happened.
