I've got a 78 page ppt presentation that needs to be one slide per page with lines for notes either under the slide or next to the slide.

Does anyone know how to add the lines? Everyone in my office is either extremely busy or doesn't know how to do it. I've been reading through all of the options on PPT and haven't found it yet.

Thank you!

(if there's a running list of boring threads, add this one to it)

Select the "Notes Page" format on your Print window. It's int eh "Print What" drop down menu.

Thanks.

I just did that and it moved the slide to the top of the page, but didn't add lines. Is that what it's supposed to do? I'll print a page and see what's what.

Yes. If you need to add actual lines, you need to do it manually in the box. The only automatic line format I know is on the 3 Slides Per Page "Handout" format.

It shouldn't bee too hard to draw the lines manually and then copy/paste. Granted 78 pages is a lot, but it still shouldn't take too long.

yeah, no lines. f*ck.

This would be totally acceptable for me but from what I understand, this guy is a straight up ballbreaker and I don't want to incur the wrath of Dr. F.

Any suggestions on adding lines?
edit: you're fast. double thanks, man.

You're trying to print out someone else's slides, 1 per page, with lines for notes?

If yes, go to Print with it pulled up.
Bottom left corner, "Print What" drop-down box, select "Handouts."
Just to the right, there's a box to select how many slides per page.
Select 1 per page, if you need that much room.

To verify, hit preview, or just check the number of pages to be printed in the preview window... should be 78 or whatever.

edit: mine just centers it. Hmm. I knew it worked @ 3-per-page.

Yeah, I tried that one too. I think Red's got to do some drawing.

Red, use the "Distribute Vertically" button from the <Drawing> menu--this will make sure they're evenly spaced.

hey check this out...

still at the Handouts, 1-per screen, when you go to the preview pane, click on Options at the top, then Header/Footer, then unclick the date one and the other Header one.

Then, under Footer, leave it checked, and in the text box, just hold down the ___________________________ for a while, and preview it. It makes a little box of underscore for as long as you held it down. Adjust as needed till it looks right.

BEST PART: The "apply to all" function.

feel it.

I've thoroughly confused myself on this one. When I try to add lines, it just doesn't work... obviously it's not a problem with what you guys are telling me, I just don't know what the eff I'm doing.

You know, when it's crunch time like this (I need this TODAY), I always think, "f*ck, I should've been learning PPT instead of ____________ (enter whatever f*ckwad thing i've been up to all day)"

edit again:
billy, it's not my boss that wants one per page, it's our speaker and he's treated like a god around here.

i'm going to try that header/footer thing. when it works, i will owe you a giant internet hug and a beer.

funny. i just had my first experience yesterday and today putting a presentation together. this sucks. when is my designer coming back?

i struggled to load one page for almost four hours. my kids learned how to do this in 4th grade and use it on a weekly basis for homework. i was so tempted to sub-contract the job out to them.

i suck.

We can have a PPT / Excel crash course day this summer if you want. Kind of a Workshop. You'll kick yourself for not getting it - most of it's pretty intuitive. Only Word is really still a badly-interfaced program.

I used Word for the first time in ages today, hated it. Excel and Powerpoint should be everyone's friends.

<==== has successfully avoided Access for eight years running. Still hasn't found the thing that can't be done in Excel.

Dude, the day I found out about Solver was an important one.

i f'n hate vlookup so I always use access to link sets of data together. it is much faster and a lot less prone to errors.

INDEX is sooooo much easier than V/H LOOKUP. I use SUMPRODUCT more than any other formula by far.

I'm not an internet stranger...

not really anyway.

edit: oh yeah, and if nobody's ever told you, you have fucking "phone sex" voice like nobody's business. Jesus. I'm gonna look at that desk phone differently from now on, whether I like it or not. I'd hate to hear you talk about anything other than powerpoint slides.
