I think they're great. Not as great as Sir Dalen says, but great nonetheless.

Bass player & drummer own (especially for a couple of fucking kids)

They don't have a song as good as "The Fallen" or "Walk Away" off the last Franz album though. Not yet at least.

I think they're great as well, but on the opposite side of your comment. I actually think the AM album is stronger than the last Franz. I haven't taken the disc out of the stereo since I bought the album. The FF album did not last that long.

So much to be said for the fact that the hype was all of the online-variety. In this day when you can own anything anytime, folks were jazzed to be a part of this thing at the ground floor - fuck, BEFORE the ground floor. A friend of mine was gloating that this was the best record of 05 and it wasn't even out yet.

The power of the leak cannot be denied.

They're OK, but they're no Eagles Of Death Metal.

I wouldn't call it groundbreaking, but I certainly wouldn't call it a terrible album by any stretch of the imagination. I picked it up when it came out, and listened to it quite a bit trying to find this hype that had shrouded the album. Funnily enough I didn't enjoy the album and put it aside. I put it in, got sidetracked and found myself tapping my toe and digging it. For me, the moral=when you put the crap to the side and just listen to it as a regular album, I liked it a bunch more.

For a classic debut album that humorously tackles British teenage life, seek out Supergrass' I Should Coco instead.

Musically, they are simply a second-rate Franz Ferdinand or Libertines.

They don't sound like either of these bands, this review is full of shit!

Don't people ever just listen to the music? True they don't stand up to this hype, hell even the Stones couldn't but fuck me this is a brilliant album.

Listen to it then listen again and maybe even a third time. It has something that is hard to explain but worth it by the end.

Same.

Not compelled either, maybe I'll wait till they're forgotten, and make a point of checking them out say, a year and a half from now, that way I'm not disappointed by all the smoke that's being blown up their ass.

That's the strategy I tend to take with this sort of thing too. Haven't heard it and probably won't jump at the chance to. The New York Times should write some heaping praise about the Liars or something actually ill.
